I'm not sure it's a diminishing minority. The Brexit vote has given some people the go ahead to bring out their worst tendencies, whether it's against black, Eastern Europeans or whatever.
There's a distinctly unpleasant tone that this Government see as being vote winning, as mentioned by Baroness Warsi last week in response to Priti Patel.
Well there was a good argument for brexit imo, many. But as with most things you have people on the same side but for different reasons.
Same on the left there can be some quite nasty organisations.
The brexit argument for immigration from me was about numbers. Firstly we are a small country and the infrastructure is buckling already with an aging population and lots of immigration.
Secondly was about integration which is key to a happy society.
At the numbers coming in it was almost impossible to integrate them which takes time, rather many live in their own groups which often doesn’t work out well and creates division.
It was a Sikh bloke who sold me the most on this argument when he explained about him arriving and how it worked for him.
Of course no one listened at the time and called most brexiteers names still.
There is an element of communities changing too quickly, people don't want to see towns rapidly changed with people they don't know and don't connect with or often didn't speak English. It takes time to become British.
Given sensible integration suddenly the groups coming in are mixed into society and given time to feel more British to them and to you.
Its then not them that live over there and we dont mix much its so and so next door who banters about the cricket etc.
If we had a sensible policy from the start I doubt the levels of people caring about it would be high at all.
