No challenges in the box for headers, again

Needs sorting asap. The sooner the Icelander is included in defence, and they practice challenging for headers, the better.

Ballard clashed heads in defence and was on the floor for about a minute. I don't remember any others though.

Critchley says it'll take him a while because he's not played on grass and only astro turf .. although am not sure either matter when it comes to making a header!

Charlton also made late signings, who couldn't have had a full preseason, but they were put straight in. Ok Bogle didn't last the full game, but at least he was getting his fitness by playing games, instead of being put into cold storage like some of our recent acquisitions!

Some of our aquisitions should be put in a freezer until the contracts expire!

Turton went for and won plenty of headers on Tuesday. Just quietly gets on with defending... Mostly

Look at the difference in their signings to ours, top league one level players with championship experience, an there’s us expecting to go up signing league 2 players....

And yet they only just managed to squeak past us 1-0 after playing almost all the first half against ten men and not managing a single shot on target!

They got the job done, that’s what good teams do when they don’t necessarily play well

Ballard did well when he came on. I was thinking more of not challenging and conceding headed goals. The Gill's game springs to mind.

Turton is massively overrated by some. Did you see him with Bogle in the 6 yard box, NOT goal side? He generally passes sideways or backwards. He brings absolutely nothing to this team.

Charlton are a big club with a big budget and they’ve signed a lot of seasoned pro’s. They’re not looking to develop a squad over the long term (like us) they’re looking for instant success (which when you come down from the Championship is fair enough) and they’re willing to spend and lose money on players to do just that. It’s a different business model to us and is probably quite a risky one but the money men are ok with it. Sadler is taking a more long term and steady approach (which is his prerogative) and I’m happy he’s doing so. Comparing Charlton and Blackpool’s squad and recruitment isn’t fair when we’re doing things very differently.
