Some of the comments made already even before the season has started against a minority of our players beggars belief. i know its only a fraction of the fanbase but for gods sake just get behind ALL the players.

Critch sees the players everyday and as he's one of the most highly qualified coaches in the country i'm happy to back his judgement and support whatever team he puts out.

Of course we all have opinions and discuss certain players, and quite rightly so but, leave that for on here.

How on earth would any of our players feel if they're hearing dogs abuse from their own supporters? Some of the comments and abuse to Chris Maxwell last season was beyond disgraceful.

We pride ourselves on our vocal support, well lets show the rest of the league we are the best.

You are wasting your breath mate

When we’ve got idiots chucking stuff on to the pitch in crucial games just when we look like scoring causing the game to get stopped what hope have we got ?

The players have got to ignore the dicks on here and on social media block it all out and just get on with their jobs

If they are abused to the point it’s criminal they need to contact the police

Totally agree, I'm sick of hearing our own fans digging out Stewart, Beesley, CJ, Thompson and so on. These are own players, what benefit do you think this has to anyone? If we can get right behind every single player that pulls on a Blackpool shirt, maybe, just maybe, they'll play with more freedom. With only a few days before the opener, let's make sure we as fans do all we can to help the players. 👏🏼

The squad looks decent for league 1

For the life of me I cant understand why Sadler didn't invest a bit more last season to try and keep us up

Critchley has come back and will do what he does, keep us solid and play boring no risk football

I think we will get promotion although it won't be pretty

We all need to get back to supporting the club

As for scapegoats I'm not sure what the OP really means, if people aren't playing well we can say so can't we?

Ultimately the book stops with the owner and manager though

Has Sadler given Critchley the tools to get us promotion, nearly I would say, probably need another 3 key players

Then there can be no excuses

If people aren't playing well then comment is justified. The OP rightly infers that some players are criticised irrespective of how well they perform.

If CJ has a blinding season and we go up there will be a significant element saying he didn't do it in the championship last time so he won't next. There's no allowing for improvement.

McCarthy took us down, not the players. Criminal waste. Shocking second half of season after a poor first half.

Of course if players aren't playing we all grumble, every football fan does. Its taking it further that serves absolutely zero purpose. We are all Blackpool fans at the end of the day and should support every player on the pitch and not shout abuse at them.

He didn't have a blinding season last time we were in League One and hasn't improved one iota since he joined us. He's quick and he plays well one game in 7 or 8 games and that's all people remember. His stats are poor as are his all round game play.

It's a fresh start and Critch wants him, but if we want to progress, we need better.

Also, it's a ** football forum to talk about Blackpool players and everything about Blackpool. I'm hardly stood in the players front rooms telling them they did this or that wrong or in general they are shit.

The ground is for supporting them, the forum is for discussing them. And if they don't want to read negative reviews don't go on AVFTT.

Well said Kurt. There are a number of threads on here that think they can dictate people's opinions of players.

If you don't like someone saying Thompson is gash then don't read it or get over yourself.

I’ve never understood why fans would think if they get on a player’s back all the time it will somehow make them play better?
Used to live not far from Wolves’ ground and I reckon their fans are the worst I’ve seen for it, but we’re not much better at times.

I've seen far worse at other grounds for getting on players backs. Very rarely happens at Blackpool. Social media is different.

I've no problem really with players being criticised on here if they are not playing well or its not thought they are up to it. Just as long as it doesn't get nasty and personal and remains about ability or lack there of, it's just an opinion.
Much like Phil_bfc not liking Critchleys style of play and thinking it's boring and not pretty he's entitled to it. I totally disagree and I like posession football and not forcing passes that aren't there although for it to work you do need that stardust number 10 who we didn't have last time and I still don't think we have yet this time either. Doesn't mean either of us are wrong, we just like what we like and don't like what we don't.

I think he knew he'd be throwing good money after bad last season.

It got unreasonably nasty towards the end of last season in the ground, culminating in personal abuse towards Maxwell.

No problem with criticism and discussion on a forum like this, but abusing individual players is not acceptable. Would you tolerate someone abusing you while you're at work?

Where did I say it was tolerable or that it didn't happen? I merely said we "abuse" players that wear Blackpool FC shirts far less from my experience of following BFC since I was 5.

And having done quite a bit of going to grounds during the boycott, I've seen Swindon, Southampton, Bristol City all abuse players far far more and extreme than I've ever seen at Blackpool FC.

Agree we have a decent L1 side which as it stands should be capable of a promotion push, and we already look a lot more solid.
Need some contracts sorting out as many are out of contract at the end of the season. But to complicate matters a few may struggle if we did get promoted.

We need goals and although Lavery has done well in pre season, it doesn’t necessarily follow that he’ll continue in the league. We need goals from other players to compensate for a drop in form for him, which will happen. We don’t want to have nail biting 1-0, hanging on for a draw or a win, so imo, we need a proven goal scorer.

I am of the same opinion of CJ as you and after his first few games when he joined us where he looked like a world-beater he has turned into a joke football player for me.
Then after the game last week in the first half, he looked decent again and then he looks out of his depth again the very next game.
I would love to be proved wrong and we see the CJ of old but until he can put a run of good games together he is a waste of a squad place.

Last season when Maxi let one in think it was Cardiff and some in the north started calling for Grimshaw

That was a ridiculously stupid thing to do
I agree absolutely with that it was stupid but the management have to shoulder the most responsibility of that for letting it get to the stage the crowd turned on him.
He was clearly out of form and confidence and although I criticized him on here I would never do it in hearing distance of him.

Some of the comments and abuse to Chris Maxwell last season was beyond disgraceful.
100% agree - but football fans are great when things are going well but a bit shit when they're not and judging by ST sales this season I'd say we've lost most of those idiots.

How on earth would any of our players feel if they're hearing dogs abuse from their own supporters? Some of the comments and abuse to Chris Maxwell last season was beyond disgraceful.

Agree that was dumb to say the least. And yes moan about a player to your pals but don’t hammer them in the ground or on social media. Nobody wants to play bad and if your not good enough at a certain level then there isn’t much you can do about it.

Great OP, no one has a poor game on purpose and the players don't pick themselves. If a player or the team aren't performing they need our backing.
With our support this could be a great season. UTP!

Yes, we should all feel able to have our say, it's part of what being a fan is about. We should, however, draw the line at insults. Everyone is trying to do their best. Of course they may not succeed but a little more of "it wasn't his greatest day," or "he's wasted in that position" has got to be better than "what a total w**ker, he's utter sh*te."
