I bid more than what I'd pay for them on a match ball and Maxwell's gloves. I see the gloves ended up at just over £100. Good effort.

If this is true, and on a serious note, this would be potentially bad news. If Hemmings still holds the reigns then Preston will always be what they are, but if they're snapped up a by a serious foreign investor, it wouldn't take too many £m's to buy it and put a few mill into the squad to push them up a notch and towards the prem - we wouldn't be laughing then, eh? 😔

Venky style investors would do nicely 👍

Unless TH totally writes off his personal debt they will struggle to find a buyer in my opinion

Yup.It cost them a fortune to break through the glass ceiling that exists just outside the top six or so, and clubs are finding that a massive hurdle given the pandemic. Derby gave it a real good go as did the Wendies but its unsustainable without some form of additional income.

Thankfully Dirty managed it but the consequences of failure can be quite catastrophic

The risk is a massive one to take unless you have millions to potentially lose ....... and I believe the Hemmings as a family have decided enough Is enough 🤔

I'm not surprised in fact a load of previous directors were forced to write off their loans when 'Job Done' was there.
Mind you the O's were doing the same until VB came along which brought them plaudits from a few at the time 😵

Tell you what if OO buys them - puts Koko in charge and in three years they are playing against Fylde his karma will improve (slightly)

The Championship is swamped with serious foreign investors, even then the Nobbers would have to get in line in the que.

It would be heaven sent if the Stains took over, just imagine a rotting neglected Deepdale playing on a sand pit of a pitch, full of loan players and one year contract freebies, while the scarecrow presides over the rotting corpse from the best neglected seat in the house.

When the likes of Derby are struggling to find foreign buyers, you do wonder how much interest there will be in coming along and losing £10m a year just to keep PNE where they are

I wouldn’t wish the Oystons on my worst enemy. Football has almost become unsustainable in the top leagues which is sad. I keep hearing the bubble will burst but up to now there’s only been a few casualties. There needs to be better governance throughout the game. Salary caps that are international for one. I won’t hold my breath though. I said on another thread that it’s really sad that our national game has been mainly taken from us by foreign owners whose motives are either a a vanity project or to make a fast Buck. Said it before I’m not jealous that Preston are in the league above us, we should be willing our team on to get to that level ourselves (then we can have our rivalry on the pitch when we play them) personally I hope they end up with decent owners if Hemmings is to get rid. As for promotion to the premiership part of me would say well done & part of me would laugh if they just missed out AGAIN.

Spot on. Although I expect we will be in the minority 😁

A club which is a founder member of the Football League? There will be some foreigner, whether American or Middle/Far East, willing to buy into the history if the price is right.

Having occasionally watched things like Cash in the attic and antiques road trip I've a vision of how this would all pan out.

Ok ladies and gentlemen, Lot 32,000,000 an English football club. An historical item this, it's been assessed by experts as being widely famous and successful in the game 150 years ago, now looking for a good home to see out its remaining time in quiet but dignified obscurity. All it needs is minimum fuss and upkeep.

There's a reserve price of £.80p, but I have to tell you, I've received an advance offer by fax of £1. So, who'll start me at £1.10?

Come on, this is a chance to own a piece of ancient sporting history. Ok tough crowd, £1.05.

£1.02, ok thank you sir. Any advance, it's a good club with multiple chances of progression. Sorry, that's my bad eyesight - where's my glasses - minimal chances.

For £1.15 you get the entire squad bar Tom Barkhuizen, and for £1.16 they'll throw in the contents of the post Korean War trophy cabinet.

Ok £1.02 with the vaguely Russian sounding gentleman in the bright suit. Do I see £1.03 from Mr Fax? No we're hearing he's been unplugged. With you then sir, what you were only joking?

Ok Lot 32,000,000 failed to make its reserve and is withdrawn unsold.

What I was thinking, solid Championship team with a decent ground and as you say with the history would make it an attractive proposition to an investor.

Put it this way an investor would rather invest in a team like Preston then Wycombe or Luton wouldn’t they.

Teams near London always more attractive ... that’s why Wycombe got new American investors last year. Luton have solid local owners.
