Nobbers v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 05.04.22

Feel weve done remarkably well this season to get 52 points in our first season in the Championship. But our weaknesses are starting to show up now. We certainly need a couple of quality midfielders for next year , otherwise could be difficult.

I think most posters on here will have played football at some level so should know that the simple truth is that the teams with the better players and regardless of tactics usually win.
Whiteman and Brown looked very good last night and for me were the difference.
We have good players (who in my opinion give their best) but if it's not good enough then so be it.
The players deserve a lot of credit for keeping us up in the Championship.
Up to the club/board now to see if they can bring in a couple of top players.
Current players have done their job.
Blackburn here we come.
I concur. A lot of knee jerk reactions on here, (unsurprisingly I suppose) because we lost to our arch nemesis, with an under par performance. Yes, it was painful. But . . . at the end of the day, the team has done bloody well throughout the season and as such, Critch and the lads deserve a huge pat on the back from each and every one of us. Hull and Peterborough fans, would surely swap league positions with us in a heartbeat.
PS - We’re still only 10 points off the play-offs and 23 away from the drop zone. Not bad for our first season back in the second flight.

Oh the pain and getting stick of nobber friends already. We have a manager and owner who will continue to develop the squad and a future with lots of hope. Watched it at the club and the pain on everybodys faces was clear to see.

My view having slept on it.
We saved our worst performance of the season for one of our most important games.

I don't think Madine up front by himself (with Keshi just behind) worked, especially as the usually excellent Keshi was poor on the night. CJ had a bad night too

I'm sure on reflection Keshi wider for CJ maybe coming on as a sub later on, with Yates or Lavery starting alongside Madine would have suited us better.
Bowler was crowded out in the main but some of his passing/shooting selections weren't right and often ran himself into trouble.
He's gambled with Robson, probably due to injuries, he and Dougall were off colour too.
At the back I thought Big Ek was superb, my MOTM, Husband did well. Keogh in his first game back after an injury did alright too.
Fingers crossed for Grimmy's safe return, Maxwell did nothing wrong, can't see many keepers stopping the shot for the goal. (Keshi deliberately left his foot in looking for the foul, but I thought the defender had made a slight contact before that, could have been given for that but obviously wasn't, they broke quickly the rest is history 🤮 )

I'm a glass half full person so I'll end on a positive...2:1 on aggregate, Championship survival assured, a chance now to blood some youngsters and see what we've got for next season, and what we need.

#UTMP 🧡🧡

The most disappointing thing for me was that Critch said he knew how important this game was for the fans, and the players were up for it. There was no evidence of that on the pitch last night. 😠

That's two games in a row where most of the players, (not all), seem to have their minds on their holidays and who they'll be playing for next season.

The management and the team need some urgent motivation. Perhaps, they should be forced to read this entire thread to understand what the fans really think? (Apart from the nobbers and the nutters, of course.)

Yes, we're staying up, but let's finish this season with a bang, rather than a whimper.

And having spent nowhere near the money clubs like Preston have spent on players.

Yes as a Preston fan i will tell you the championship is a hard place for teams of the likes of Preston and Blackpool. Compared to most teams Preston haven't paid a lot for players but do over spend usually around 7 million pound on wages......much of it wasted in most opinions. But on reflection its a difficult job for any team to be competitive against some giant clubs.

I think you should be proud of your teams efforts this season i have been following your vloggers on you tube and all round the vibe is good around your club.

Try not to be to critical of your manager and players it shows poor taste many off our fans do the same, the difference is you chaps are new to this league and have done well this season... be proud.

You won the home game and deserved that and we won our home derby and we just about won that....

Watched the game on Sky and thought the build up and atmosphere created by both sets of fans was first class . Great to see two proud Lancashire town clubs head to head , in front of circa 20,000 fans .

Unfortunately I thought the match was a bit of a let down . Lots of blood and thunder but not much quality - some would say a typical derby . PNE look to have picked a gem up on loan with Archer , but in my opinion he shouldn’t have been on the pitch to score the winner .

Leaving his foot in on the challenge with your keeper looked deliberate to me and he should have been red carded . He got away with one there . I understood his delight when he scored but his celebration lacked class and was deliberately and idiotically provocative. I doubt Sir Tom would have been impressed. Hopefully your keeper will make a quick recovery.

I was really impressed with your centre half Ekpiteta and your left full back Husband . Bowler looks like he has talent but struggled last night , other than one or two mazy runs . He was tightly marked and at times had two / three players looking after him . The rest , well I thought they gave it their all , but not quite at the races . For PNE as I said , Archer is quality and Whitman looks a player at this level , similar to Travis at Rovers . Again I thought they lacked a bit of quality too .

Looking forward to the match on Saturday, Hope there won’t be any of the violence you saw last night and like any decent football fan , Rovers , Pool , PNE or Burnley , send my best wishes to the youngsters who were injured or affected by the knob heads throwing stuff .

A tough ask for you at Ewood after last night but I’m sure your manager will have your lads up for it and you’ll bring numbers and as always you’ll get behind your team . We will hopefully have Lenihan , Diaz and Dack starting. I’m predicting a much needed 2-0 home win , but I think we’ve blown our play off chances , unless we can win at least four of the last six . Still been a decent season for us though .
