Non League

A player that I spent most of last season watching at my local side made his debut for Barnsley today. I genuinely believe that non league is a place we should heavily be scouting, especially here on the wrong side of the Pennines. There’s some fantastic players either playing for my side or against them that baffle me as to how they’re not higher up the pyramid.

Today proves that it can be done.

We did. However I mean delving deeper into it. My local side is tier 8
Good point, for example Danny Rowe was playing for my Sunday league side and in tier 10 in local football (West Lancs League), 2 years later he was top scorer in the Conference North, and went on to play for Fleetwood, Oldham, Bradford and Chesterfield. There are plenty of talent lower down the leagues, you only really find out good they are once you put them through full time training and they blossom.

Yep, exactly that. Full training makes a massive difference.

Was watching Jack Armer playing for Carlisle today; three seasons ago I was watching him play for Lancaster City (tier 7) as an 18 year old.

Several of the Lancaster team had great talent like him, and had played high level academy football (and the odd game as a pro) and probably had the ability to play in league 2 if they got super fit. Jack got a trial at Carlisle and did just that...
