It is to the point where I don't know why Critchley persists with three at the back. Go to a flat back four and get them all on the pitch!

Critchley is going to have selection problems, isn't he?
You would imagine that Rhodes (if fit) and Joseph/Kouassi would be the front two.
Pennington Casey/Marv Husband the back three.
There's going to be some competition for the middle five with Gabriel, CJ, Norburn, Morgan, Dembele, Lyons, Byers, Coulson and Carey to choose from.

Unless we change formation. A 4-3-3 would be brilliant with the players we’ve got, especially now now Gabriel is back, but something tells me we are stuck with wing-backs until eternity.

If there’s no movement out today, then that’s a good thing, competition for places should motivate players, although the manager should be able to keep them all happy and motivated. Down to him.

The last three league games we've played have all been 3-5-2 with CJ and Coulson wing backs with Dembele, Morgan and Norburn in the middle. But I suppose Dembele does make up a three up front most of the time.
Even if you take Dembele into a front three, there's still 8 to choose from for the middle 4.

Whatever the variation, we are still playing an extra defender instead of a midfielder/winger. I'll give it one more chance at Stevenage but I really do think the formation is holding us back.
Dembele hasn’t been in a middle three, it’s been Dembele and Joseph either side of Rhodes in a front 3

Fair enough, still some choices to be made for the middle four then from Gabriel, CJ, Norburn, Morgan, Byers, Lyons, Coulson and Carey.
