Not my first choice…

Not my choice either but I will of course give him every chance. I'll be delighted for him to prove me wrong which is something I've said many times about players I've been critical of.
Let's move on now and wait to see who he brings in and what style of football we play.
Good luck Michael no more calling him Bad Apple (for now anyway).

One positive is he got far better loan players than Critch managed .
No compo to be paid, will work with existing staff,so we showed more loyalty than Critchley to his own staff.
Experienced,well qualified but not inspiring.

I'm feeling pretty depressed, I'll be honest. Mansford earns 350k a year, for this?! Career defining moment for him, perhaps.

What happened to the model? The tune seems to change every time the music stops.

Not last season he didn't.

Agree not an exciting appointment, but he has more experience than the other candidates we know about, so it could be viewed as a less risky option. I still have the feeling that Rosenior was the preferred choice, but if he breached commercial confidentiality during negotiations his appointment would have been untenable.

Its done now lets move on and get behind the new boss.

wasn't for me but I don't know him, have no experience in running a championship football club, wasn't involved in the interview process and haven't pumped millions of my own money into the club.

What I do know is that our current owners have the best interests of our club at heart unlike the scum that were here the last time Mike Appleton was our manager and at least he had the balls to leave - unlike someone who still sings their praises today after a few halves of tractor wine.

UTMP

Sadler and Mansford are no mugs ... he wouldn't have been on my list of 50 options but he has plenty to prove and has clearly interviewed brilliantly.

I know why some are frustrated / pissed off but let's not forget where we came from. I was there when we were singing last month having been hammered by ** Pboro. Similar backbone required now...

It's like the Oystons are back with this appointment. Complete waste of time and you can see what's coming.
There's a reason we are always considered the smallest of the 4 Lancashire clubs and that's because we never maintain anything for long and have fleeting moments. Straight back to L1 with this while they all play championship and maybe above.
Last season we got our fan base on a par with Rovers and the nobbers and now it's gone in a stroke. Opportunity wasted while they get their houses in order again.
All the Mansford talk of having an identity and playing the Blackpool way is gone in an instant to bring his mate in.
I'm sure all the uber fans will be along to say we have to back him etc but regardless of his plodding managerial career I don't forget what a snake he was leaving.
I'm just so disappointed.

My biggest problem is Michael Appletons Tangerine Army just doesn't scan.
The biggest problem is the 4 year deal for an uninspiring manager. Can't see us troubling the top half of the table, I'm anticipating a relegation battle tbh. And I've been very optimistic since the Oystons left. It's just how I feel, and I could be wrong. Everyone deserves a chance. I'm just feeling bad about it.

It's feeling more and more like we can't really afford to be in this division. Struggling to finance it. And what's totally apparent is that Mansford comes out with corporate bullshit and the reality is something else. Grayson, Critchley, Appleton. It's all just made up as they go along. And then BM applies some spin. I'm looking forward to hearing him doing this one. I bet he's a bit defensive.

It's not an easy job to find an ideal manager in a hurry, but why give a 4 year deal to someone is nothing like ideal? I suspect it's about money, an affordable option.

Ditto. 👍

I think the board want continuity till the capital projects are completed

Some of the biggest critics of the appointment thought he was the best thing since sliced bread for walking out to go to Blackburn.

I made no secret of my distaste of his potential appointment, or indeed that I wasn't happy when he walked out, but now he's here, I'm mature enough to at least give him the benefit of the doubt.

Some proper babies showing their colours here.

Maybe Mansford needs to speak to Dominic Raab first to get some tips on how to defend the indefensible .

I wasn't keen on Appleton first time round. He just used us as an escape from Portsmouth's problems and looked around for an alternative immediately. We are allowed to dislike the guy.

But Appleton is the manager. A bit less foot stomping and teddies thrown out the pram and let’s get behind him and the players.

I didn’t want Critchley and that turned out alright
Im quite happy with him, hes gotten alot more experience & hopefully matured

Id have preferred him over Rosenior said that all along due to him been that few years older & experienced

He has a face only a mother could love but whilst he is manager he has my support

It does suggest Critch left and Rosenior didn’t come through lack of budget though.

Absolutely, but some have already decided how we'll play, that we'll lose every week and that he's fooled Simon Sadler.

Anybody can have a good interview. His football record hasn't been considered because if it had he wouldn't be the manager. He's probably come across as a nice bloke. Plus he's mates with Mansford - say no more.

Of course there's some over reaction, and Appleton may prove all the doubters wrong, me included, etc. It's just an incredibly uninspiring choice, and exposes Mansford as a jobsworth, in my opinion! All the continuity talk was a load of bollocks.

And I don't understand why Sadler is ok with it? I can only think that Mansford has told him that everyone else interested wants more money in wages or player budget and Sadler has reluctantly accepted the decision on money grounds?

I'm not sure we should be putting so much of the available finance into infrastructure. Maybe not the right balance.

Not my money though.

Its his vanity project

Trust the board. Give him a chance. He mentions the word aggression several times in his interview. Maybe he'll scare CJ into delivering a decent cross. .

Yes, I'd go with that Athers.

He wouldn't have been my first choice either but I was never going to have any input in to the decision and we were never going to appoint Pep.

I only caught the end of a program Lee did but I think he was saying the same thing and just hoping that things turned out well.

Up the Mighty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not even my 5th choice...But let's see who he signs etc...Hopefully he gets off to a good start to so he can win us Pool fans over...UTMP🍊
Don’t hold your breath on that one. His starting record at all his clubs isn’t anything to get excited about.
Lasted 65 days with us, 67 at Blackburn, which beggars belief why we signed him.
Some on here are going on about Rossinior but his track record isn’t up to much either.
What I don’t understand is that as a Championship club surely the vacancy must have attracted applicants with a better pedigree; OR was their pay demands too much and Appleton’s appointment was purely for financial reasons.
It goes against the grain but I have a feeling that this is the wrong appointment and I certainly do not understand the 4 year appointment. There MUST clauses in there!

I don't know who I'd have preferred out of Appleton and Rosenior but I'm glad that I'm not the only supporter who doesn't seem to think that Rosenior is the reincarnate of Brian Clough.

I’m surprised by the responses. He’s experienced. strong in character and self belief and will imv take this team forward.

We needed a step up from a finishing school for aspiring managers.

Three? Interviews and yet no one thought to check his managerial record. My goodness that seems negligent in the extreme 😂
