The position of our opponents for the run in:

Wigan - 13th
Derby - 2nd
Wycombe - 14th
Cambridge - 20th
Fleetwood - 22nd
Carlisle - 24th
Barnsley - 5th
Reading - 18th

You’d have taken 5 out of the 8 being in the bottom 7. Saying that, be like us to win at Derby and hammer Barnsley, and lose the others. So like most of my threads and thoughts, this is completely pointless and bollocks. Good night x

Thanks for that @Athers - when you come down to this stage of the season that's the sort of info we need.
Without the points deduction Wigan would be 10th and so better than that looks.
We need that win on Saturday to keep up with/overtake the teams above us just to give us a little buffer before that Derby game.

Interesting that 4 of those will be battling relegation - perhaps upping their game a bit to stay up

Hopefully Carlisle and Fleetwood are dead and buried by the time we play them, Wycombe have nothing to play for and hopefully by the time we play Reading on the last day we either have 6th wrapped up and/or they are safe and also have nothing to play for. These things can make a big difference🤞

Carlisle will be but I have a feeling Fleetwood will drag it out a while longer.

Silly season is underway, so anything could happen. Unfortunately, away from home at least, our silly season began in August.

Have to say, I've never really bought into the "nothing to play for" thing. I've been to too many games - I'm sure we all have - where a team in mid table, or already relegated, plays with freedom and/or commitment. Whereas a team with everything to go for does a complete no show, bottles it whatever. To me, it's all on the day - obvious I know, but pro footballers are still only human however big the game might be. And if something happens to rile one of them mid game, and the red mist comes down then anything can happen and often has.

As the earlier post alluded to, Wigan would only be 5 pts behind us if they had not been docked 8pts. Saturday is a tough game against ( fairly) local rivals. Another 1-0 would do nicely.

Interesting to look at Lincoln's run-in.....

Bristol R (h)
Leyton Orient (h)
Carlisle (a)
Reading (a)
Wigan (h)
Oxford (a)
Cheltenham (a)
Portsmouth (h)

Given their red hot form it is entirely possible for them to win the next 5 games with Orient being the toughest fixture on paper. Oxford could easily be out of the running by the time they play them. Also, Portsmouth could have the Lg1 Championship tied up and their players on the beach by the final round of fixtures.

reading is the banana skin. . hopefully just a draw will be enough .

Wycombe play at Wembley days after they play us, hopefully they will have one eye on that when we face them.

On paper, the games looks favourable but there will be twist and turns along the way.

I have seen Pool seven times at Reading. The first time was at Elm Park and finished 1-1. The last time was in the FA Cup a few years ago : 2-2.
The other five at the MAD Stadium were all defeats; 3-0, 1-0, 2-1, 3-1, and 5-1. I swore that I would never go again 💀

Carlisle are dead and buried already - the Cods face Oxford before us and so let's hope for one last hoorah!
