Was borderline for sureOmg. Lost by 1.
Previous ball should have been wided.
It's a 2 match series pal.Ffs, but keeps it alive as a series
ahh ok.It's a 2 match series pal.
Unbelievable finish, Bazball is great and we've all loved it, but Test cricket is also about resilience and responsibility, and NZ showed it in buckets in this match, Stokes and Root were winning this match in a canter until they bit on the short ball and gave their wickets away, if they'd continued what they were doing we'd have won that by 4 or 5 wickets.
Great drama though.
What u missed off your post was thatRoot and Stokes absolutely brain dead, we were coasting to a series win and they both were so comfortable and disciplined putting on 120, a couple of bouncers and they go a and try hook them for six, both get out and now we're in big trouble.
Dumb as f@ck the pair of them.
Cambers, Root's call for a quick single was as dumb a call for a run as I've seen in Test cricket. What u missed off your post was that
a) we should have batted on Day 3 not enforced the follow on as we‘d have been easy 430 aheadby the end of the day — So Stokes opened the door for them instead of slamming it shut &
b) Root ran out the best bat in the Northern hemisphere
Thick as…….
Is it not the case that that's how we now play? More often than not, the foot to the pedal has worked for us.Root and Stokes absolutely brain dead, we were coasting to a series win and they both were so comfortable and disciplined putting on 120, a couple of bouncers and they go a and try hook them for six, both get out and now we're in big trouble.

I mean when is there ever a quick single when the ball is just patted down towards the slip cordon?
I love the new England and everything McCullum has brought to our Test side and i was rivetted to the action until the early hours, now I understand they'll be times when it backfires and bites our backsides, but we simply threw that series away with some wreckless batting and poor calls especially after Root and Stokes had played it exactly right putting us in a postion to win in a canter, it was a needless and disappointing way to end the series.
I know Wizz, but there are certain times when a bit of common sense should prevail and last night it didn't and it cost us a series win.Is it not the case that that's how we now play? More often than not, the foot to the pedal has worked for us.
Totally agree - you don't enforce the follow-on if there is nearly half the match to go and the weather is set fine. The pitch is only going to get worse on day 4/5. Let the bowlers have a rest and have 2 to 2 and half sessions of Bazball.Absolutely
At the end of NZ‘s first innings I text my mate in Essex and said ‚do not make them bat again‘ and he has 10 mins to discuss it with the Team Manager — all their impetus was in place with Southee‘s knock (now he would look good in our team)
Mentality of kids ! We should never have lost that match
Yeah. 3pm BT 2 I think, may be 1.I can't find highlights. Anyone know where and when?
Cheers mate, much appreciated.Yeah. 3pm BT 2 I think, may be 1.
I think you will enjoy an absorbing albeit frustrating in some ways programme, I can't help thinking we threw this one away as only us English can.Cheers mate, much appreciated.
Yes. Clear wide in any form of cricket.I think you will enjoy an absorbing albeit frustrating in some ways programme, I can't help thinking we threw this one away as only us English can.
I had the "pleasure" of watching it live, it was real nail biting stuff.
Pity we don't use VAR in cricket, with 2 to win and one to tie (which would have won us the series 1-0) the NZ umpire didn't give a wide on one that flew that high over Jimmy's head he would have needed a pair of stepladders to reach it.
Hang you head in shame Chris Gaffney.
