O/T Company Phone Numbers

Please help me with some market research. If you were looking for a company which of the following numbers would be more appealing:

Mobile - 07
Landline - 0121
Freephone - 0800

Would it make any difference to your first impression? (that's really what I am asking for here)

07 it look like its coming from a person not someone trying to sell you something the other numbers I just hang up and block straight away.

I’d say it depends on whether the customer is making or receiving the call.
A customer is more likely to answer a cold call if it’s from an unknown mobile, but if I’m looking at tradesmen (for example), a landline looks more pro.

What about if you're researching companies for a specific service. Would seeing the company have an 01 or 08 number make any difference?

I think you need a fixed line number, makes you look more permanent and established.
Not sure about the 08 numbers - if the're not freephone then it looks like you're ripping people off.
If you're a national business though, a local number can make you sound remote, if you're not in a big city and your customers are.
I've just got some 0330 numbers for my company - local rate but non-geographic.

You do need numbers though!

I just signed my company up for a really good hosted phone system, gives you a pc based phone, mobile one, and a physical handset as well if you want it, and the rates are low - cheaper than paying for a landline and diverting it, or paying for a landline number to allocate to your mobile. Did a lot of research, there are lots of options. DM me if you want more info.

the big difference would be whether you could speak to anyone at the other end once you get through or whether you just end up with a computer giving you endless options which end up giving you useless information and/or the problem you have is not listed.

TOP TIP - don't waste your time trying to talk to anyone at Virgin, they have closed all their shops and the answerphone service is less than useless. Consequently, I have a phone which I cannot use for texting or for phoning anyone. It seriously looks like 25 years of using this company is coming to a rather sudden end.

Always find a landline then a mobile more appealing. Strange whe you think the 0800 is the free one.

Landline I ignore 0800. And just a mobile could be a fly be night

Landline. It's tangible. An 07 could be a burner/transient. An 0800 can be an ambiguous origin unless alongside a landline.

I also don't don't like calls from 'Private' Number' or 'Unknown'.

For reasons I shan't go into it brings me a lot of anxiety and I have them permanently switched off on my phone.

I've noticed some companies are now using mobiles with 07 because people tend to dodge the likes of 0121 or 0800 numbers calling them as it'll inevitably be 'I believe you've been involved in a road traffic accident which wasn't your fault ...'
