O/T Cricket County Championship

Starts today but with a butchered format of different groups turning into other groups that I'm at a loss to understand. Why can't they just leave things alone? Anybody know if it's just for one season and then returning to 2 divisions again or is this the start of something different?
Coupled with the hundred starting , if an old cricket fan like me can't understand it all then God help anybody else 😮
Anyway , good luck to Lancashire 😉👍

Agreed, it is a ridiculous format - county cricket doesn't lend itself to having a one off 'final' at the end. And as for the Hundred - its just cricket for morons.

Is that your home county? How do you reckon they'll do this year? I have a mate who's a massive fan but always bemoans not having much to shout about...
Good side I think. We added Mohammed Abbas for the first few games. Kyle Abbott still here so great with the ball and adds with the bat.

All round not too bad. Think we can give a good account of ourselves.

As I type this, Vince has hit a 81 ball hundred. In April. In England. Some feat.

Good comeback from Sussex but it's supposed to be a decent pitch so hopefully we'll post a good score tomorrow.

I really hope the likes of Bohannon, Lamb & Jones kick on this year.

With Aussie Jackson Bird due to join later in the month and Big Liam at the IPL we'll be a bit light for the first few games but still a decent team 👍

If you read Michael Atherton's column in the Times this week he explains the new format and the reason for it. Basically it is fixture congestion exacerbated by the new 100 competition. It is behind a paywall but the link might work for some

I heard quite a bit of applause when I was listening to Scott Read doing the commentary on the BBC Sounds app - have they allowed a few in this season yet?

Ship has sailed for Vince in test cricket, same way it has for Jennings. He could score 10,000 runs this season and (barring COVID outbreaks) there's no way he gets selected. They're looking for lads who can play in the Ashes...he's still in most of the Aussie quicks' pockets. Didn't learn his lesson with how loose he is outside off stump.

At least now no Kolpak ruling Hampshire have to pick a couple of younger English lads!

Considering the struggle to find a decent 2/3 I'd say it hasn't.
