o/t First car you always wanted/First car you got

Saved my ass off and wanted a Mk3 escort, ideally red …… this would have been ideal, however my Dad told me he’d find me a perfect car…..

As reliable as it was , he came home with a mark1 escort in dysentery beige. Hardly the fanny magnet I was hoping for……

That 3i is exactly the same as my 1st car except mine was a B reg

I wanted a silver MK2 Ford Cortina 1600E ended up with a Mexico brown coloured one. So at least I had the motor of my dreams it just needed a little body work to bring it up to scratch which included 3 doors,2 front wings and a bonnet. After a respray and a contrasting tan vinyl roof fitted ONF 122H was my dream motor

First car I wanted was a Triumph TR4.

First car I got was a Triumph Herald 12/50. Sunshine roof, Wedgwood blue. FTD 941F.

Couldn't tell you the reg of any of my cars since...

Wanted an Renault 5 GT Turbo, ended up with my dads Mini. Sold it for £75 and went on the lash.

Always a biker so passed my test on a BSA Bantam and bought a Norton Dominator. First car was a £100 purchase off my Dad for his Vauxhall Viva CUL 892H.

In 1989 a colleague tipped me off about an old fella he knew who had to stop driving. He was selling his 1970 Escort mk1 1300gt. He wanted £100 for it and it was a well looked after motor with low mileage. Insurance would have been £500. I was on a YTS at the time earning £35 a week and had to let it go. Another colleague bought it, put a new wing and two sills on it and sold it a few weeks later for £700. If that car's still on the road, it'll be worth a mint now.

I ended up with a brown Talbot Avenger. It had a vinyl roof and red front wing. I bought it for £350 and sold it a year later for £250. I had a ton of fun in that car.

Back then, the mk2 Escort RS2000 was king. I did always have a soft spot for Avenger Tigers though.

My Dad had a couple of Avengers, one was a cracking blue vinyl roof 1600 GLS, that was a great car, just like this one.

Within 3 months, I noticed that whenever I pulled the handbrake, the back seat came forward 😳 3 weeks later I got £40 in scrap for it....
Always wanted a jag, and finally (35 years later) got myself an E Pace 👍

Really wanted an Austin Healey Sprite I saw at a little car sales place near Bloomfield Road, ended up buying my mum and dad's Hillman Imp, it was green and with the engine in the back I had to weigh the front end down with house bricks to stop it being blown about in crosswinds 😔

LKE803F and they saw me coming!
