Burrell collection is pretty impressive if you’d like that type of thing?
Not sure what’s happening now with the Scottish School of Art / Renny Macintosh restoration?
There’s plenty of great places to eat either in the centre or over by SECC / Docks area.
Also option of driving out to Loch Lomond

Great city to visit
The west end of city good to visit - botanical gardens, art galleries ,museums and as mentioned Burrell collection
People place in the east side wa always good
Not sure if any gigs on but Barrowlands fantastic venue or smaller gigs at King tuts .City centre worth a saunter around - underground between city centre and west end ,frequent and reliable .

Some great bars and little whiskey bar with eccentric cinema just off Byers road ,west end

Them of course there is the footy despite the sectarianism this is a real football city - dont rule out a Partick Thistle game - Less of the nonsense and great pubs nearby

Not sure about food but great selection of Indian and theres even a small Chinatown

Enjoy

I used to be in the Ubiquitous chip a couple of nights a month there as I had a customer who was chair of the Whiskey society and that was his favourite haunt.
Nothing better than winding him up as he orders a bottle of 20 year hand crafted speyside, asking the waitress to bring a bottle of coke to top it up 😁

It's a big city centre. Take the underground if needs be. Go into the People's Palace - a good museum of everyday life. Whilst out that way, go to the Barras (Barrowlands) market, or one of their evening gigs.

Back in the centre, try Cranston's tea rooms on Sauchie Hall Street. It's pure Rennie-McIntosh. Top floor is often given over to weddings - looks fantastic.
Out in Pollock there's the Burrell collection but also the House of an Art Lover; realised from McIntosh designs it's really good if you 're into Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Otherwise, the pubs are great up the West End and by the University. If you want to stay central go to the far end of Sauchiehall Street, at Charring Cross and you'll find the Bonn Accord. Good pub. More centrally, on Nile Street (I think) there's the Pot Still. Also, the Horseshoe Bar near the Library. I believe the Humblebums used to practice upstairs (Gerry Rafferty and Billy Connolly).

Glasgow is ace as far as cities go.

As mentioned above, a decent afternoon tour from Glasgow is up to Loch Lomond and west at Tarbet to Arrochar, up over the Rest and be Thankful under the Cobbler, then round to Inveraray and get the ferry back from back from Dunoon.

Get a metro or walk to the west end, some nice bars round there, ubiquitous chip for starters, hill head underground station

Go to West Brewery on Glasgow Green for a really nice dinner and really nice ales! As Chunky said the Burrell collection is mint and the university grounds are great to walk around if you’ve never been. If you can get a visitor pass for the uni library the view from the top floor is the best in the City. Go to Ashton Lane juste behind Hillhead subway station for some quaint terrace drinking, go to the Mint & Lime bar on Jamaica St if you want a really cheap beer in the centre, the local old fogies in there do not tire of telling you their Blackpool stories. Get the train to Balloch for a super accessible, super lovely walk round the bottom of Loch Lomond. If you’re into religious/cultural history I highly recommend the St Mungo Museum which is right next to the acropolis for a two-in-one blast of heritage. If you go to Maryhill there’s a cycling/walking path that goes along the canal, which at one point gives you full view of Firhill Stadium and the pitch. I watched a few Thistle games after a long walk and a nice doobie up there during my student days. Also highly recommend walking along the river Kelvin, best IMO to start from Kelvingrove station and walk in a southernly direction. After living in flat-chested Holland for 4 years the amount of nature just bursting out of every corner of Glasgow seems like a distant dream!! The Devil’s Pulpit and the nature walks around Cathcart are also too close by to miss. Devils Pulpit still one of my favourite places in the entire world.

And, if you are on Byres Road and around that Ashton Lane area, you cannot do better than Little Italy for some cheap takeaway grub. Used to do an amazing carbonara to go for about 6 quid, I ate about three of those a day when I was doing my dissertation 😂

Just be aware as soon as you mention Blackpool you are locking yourself into a 12 hour conversation with anybody over the age of 50 🧡

And have a Tennent’s for me 👍
