Wouldn't bother taking your dog on there any time soon, lots of caravans have arrived with kids driving cars around the paths.

I don't think it's the Caravan Club.

Noticed a number of caravans on Mereside playing fields today, didn’t look like they were part of a caravan rally!
they have moved there from thornton i think they was on king georges in fleetwood the week before and left loads of rubbish on the playing fields and when i went past thornton on sunday loads of them doing tree cutting etc they had just piled it all up by the trees not been pas since but would imagine all the crap will be left police should be nailing them for fly tipping and most wont have a waste carriers license so could nail them for that too confiscate their vehicles until fines have been paid then charge them for towing and storage they would if you or i did it

A van with ladders arrived as I was walking past.

Seems an annual event for them, won’t be long until they are moved on.

I’m sure the Law will move them on. I doubt the air ambulance will be able to land otherwise

Good point 👍

Devere won't be overjoyed either.

On the plus side the lads on those mini motorbikes who are usually tearing round there weren't to be seen.

A law unto themselves and think they are beyond the legal system
They do appear to be beyond the legal system as the worst they can expect is to be *moved on* so it is rinse and repeat.
My brother worked for a council down south and played a part in the process of evicting them, he was warned not to travel home using the same route as they would follow him and exact revenge.

They are beyond the legal system, I’ve had 8 break ins at my workshop over 20 or so years & guess what -6 of those occasions they were in town , one was in my work on friday asking if I had any scrap metal whilst his eyes were scanning around my place- I take as many of my tools home every day as I can & I’ve built up an array of broken ones to scatter around the place, anyway I can’t get insurance because of all this without paying a massive premium so it’s actually cheaper to have a break in once a year, I could go on & on but it’s all ok in the end because the police call within a day or two and give you a crime number, happy days

Clearly taking the piss when they rock up on Mereside, directly opposite the cop shop!
Oh the coppers will all have moved to the offices at the back away from seeing them. Cut them some slack. There are manics out there on the Fylde coast driving in the mid 30's.

My sympathies. Unless you’re very rich, the world is not improving.

I think it's the council and not the police that have the powers to move them on.
This. The council has to apply for an eviction order from the courts which normally takes 2-3 days, hence the delay. Once it’s received, they’re finally moved on but they just move a mile or so down the road and the whole process starts over again. Bit of a charade really.

Saw the thread title and went YYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!! That was quick.

My thoughts on the topic is if they want to break in, prevent them breaking out- containers and the such encircling the perimeter.

I know a farmer who parked his tractor to the entrance of one of his fields where a few travellers had moved on to, blocking them in. They were lined up in a convoy within a couple of hours waiting for him to move the tractor so they could get out. They didn’t come back.

police use the powers they have set up the mobile cctv unit catch them emptying their rubbish from the pick ups etc then stop them and as a criminal offence has been commited they can search their caravans find their stash of money theyve fleeced off the public bring in proceeds of crime and use the POCA act confiscate their money they have to prove that the money is from a LEGAL source they investigate all their assetts cars vans caravans etc and need proof where the funds have come from

Just drove past the Travelling Community Settlement on Lawson’s field on my way back to work this afternoon . About a dozen or so caravans etc spread around with horses etc. No sign of Police presence

I do have a copy of a certain Viz edition that had a one week only family in it. I would love to post a copy of it on here but not sure how long I'd be banned for!!

Would make a better site than the one up at Hardhorn. Seems the travellers need a permenant or temporay site as they are frequent vistors to the resort.
