I like the old ringing in the ears, it doesn't happen as much now as it used to, mind you that maybe just because my ears are old and shot to bits!!

Got a hit of reggae in Cambridge coming up over the next few weeks, Eek a mouse, Mikey Dread Chanel One Sound System, Cleveland Watkiss and Alphasteppa. A couple of those should get the ears ringing!!

Did a bit of late night Radio 2 during lockdown which was uncharted territory for me.
Really liked a particular Irish folk session they did and cribbed a few of them for my Spotify playlist.

I was surprised at the volume too...been years since had that feeling! 🙉

Smaller venues are the best!!

I love to discover bands I've never heard before and tonight Tom Robinson has introduced me to this brilliant band, got to love music, anyone else discovered anyone musically recently?

I love that track, not so keen on their album as a whole cos Billy Bragg does my head in but that is a banger.

This is one artist I've got into recently.

More related to yours, I love this track and I only heard it recently...

Love a bit of Eek-a-mouse.

One of the best gigs I've ever seen.

Saw some decent stuff a few weeks ago at the Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival. Apart from Ian Siegal, who I wouldn't get off the bog to see ever again (what a dick) I'm surprised we stuck it for half an hour.

If we're talking reggae, I can't get enough of this atm. A stone cold all time classic imo.

You cannot beat King Tubby, absolutely brilliant.

Haven’t got tickets for Eek a Mouse yet, it’s on Saturday night so will wander down if I’m not too knackered.

Been around for a few years now, but I'm really looking forward to watch US funk/soul Band 'Durand Jones and the Indications' next week in Manchester........picking up some good reviews and plays on Radio

Complete shame on my part for being unaware of him previously, but I have enjoyed what I've heard of Steven Wilson's stuff. And probably more so Porcupine Tree as well.

Although Bad Touch are established , these guys slipped under my musical radar.
Thanks to Planet Rock radio last week I’ve now discovered them and loving trawling their back catalogue.

Almost like the Black Crowes have been reincarnated !

That first tune is pretty interesting 👍

One of my friends bands. Bite the Buffalo.

I remember coming back from an operation and turning on the tele and watching this. He hadn't even told me as I was away for 3/4 months. Thought I was dreaming, couldn't believe he was playing Glasto. Love the music they play, shame they've never made it bigger but good nonetheless. Just him and his bro.

And this is one or two of their more successful few songs.

Saw the Imagined Village at a festival last month, they were superb. Some great artists involved.
👍

Bands that have tickled my fancy over the last couple of years:

James (refound my love for them since I saw them back in the day)
The lathums
Red rum club
The reytons
Royston social club
The stanleys

I always liked Tim Minchin’s comedy, but I recently found out he recorded a studio album of ‘proper’ songs which I can’t stop listening to. It’s called Apart Together, it’s great IMO:

Quite like the new Jockstrap record that came out the other day - it'll be a bit of a polarising one, though.

Also, the new Weyes Blood single is a cracker. Apparently the record is great; I think she could be a future Grammy-winning artist IMO.

Went to End of the Road festival last weekend and outside of the artists on our labels, I really enjoyed Cassandra Jenkins and Jake Xerxes Fussell...

I'll check them out. Do any of your artists play at the Great Escape Festival in May?

Being US-owned with a majority of US artists, not usually given it's costly to bring someone over for smaller showcase-y shows. Occasionally though - we might have one or two next year.

Like it as a festival though. Do you go?

Yes, it's a great format, a bit like Rebelluin I suppose lots of small venues and lots of upcoming bands. You aren't in a forced festival setting so you can still do whatever you want and of course have a comfy bed and a bathroom. We go airbnb and it works brilliantly.
