O/T One day Cup Final Lancs vs KENT

Rob Jones in for Balderston. No thankyou.

Anyway. Quite glad the lads that got us there have not been replaced by those playing The Hundred.

WICKET!!! Kent 0-1

Jones in the one day cup this year:
5 innings
256 runs
Average 85.33

He is also an excellent fielder
Like Mac I have slagged Jones off this season but he's had a great One Day Cup.

Come on Lancs . . . batting looks strong but bowling looks a bit thin. 👍 🌹

A pretty even start, wicket not offering much for the bowlers. We need to stay patient, restrict the runs and hopefully force a mistake.

I'm a bit disappointed they pick Williams ahead of Balderson or Morley? Williams appears to offer nowt on ghis wicket and would be good experience for our home grown lads.

I know they are trying to keep the same group of players that got us to the final but they need a bit more quality in the bowling department . . . I would have played Luke Wood and or possibly Hartley.

Done well last few overs but whats going on with the fielding/catching? We seem really jittery in the field. Catches dropped, misfields, overthrows. Hope it doesn't affect our batting.

Kent finish with 306 for 6.

At the halfway stage Kent would have hoped for well over 300 so I'd say Lancs would be slightly happier.

They just didn't accelerate . . only 3 sixes in their whole innings.

Let's hope the horror show in the field from Wells doesn't affect his batting.

We should do this . . . I predict a BFC / LCCC double :) 🧡🌹

We looked sloppy and disinterested.

Kent have looked in the mood all through their innings.
Weve bowled well and fielded badly. Jittery rather than sloppy I think. Bit anxious.

Kent didn't score well in the last few overs and it's a good batting wicket so we've every chance if we calm down and bat well.

267 for 9, Bailey gone

Jones is a very good fielder and a reasonable red ball batsman
But he shouldn't be anywhere near a limited over side.
29 off 46 balls (when the required run rate is nearly 10 per over), no boundaries at all in those 46 deliveries.
wtf?

Fully deserved that by Kent.
Far better batting side and 99% better in the field, some of their catches were outstanding. 👏
2 finals 2 defeats.🙁

Bad day all round. Perhaps the fielding was the difference between the 2 teams. Lancs get to the final in the two cups and likely finish 3rd in the Championship; good season but still no silverware

Classic Lancs innit? No silverware but performed well all season. Deserved more.

I would have gone Balderstone too as he offers more with the bat.
Hey ho. We move on to win all 3 next season

I was sat next to 4 young Prescum fans who were up and down all day long to the bar then toilets, bar, toilets. Kept singing "PNE, PNE, PNE!" Slagging 'Pool off repeatedly . . . About an hour before the end one of the nobbers who was incredibly pissed and had a burger not long before threw up all over himself. The smell was fcuking horrendous. Like cat food!

Anyhow I moved seats and was surrounded by half a dozen Yorkshire fans and a few dozen Kent fans. Far more preferable than the nobber fans!

Kent fans were at it all day. Their team was at it. Lanky were diabolical in the field. Wasteful bowling, defensive batting. Brilliant Kent fielding. Just not our day.

Just another in the many big days this century that Lancs have under delivered in one day cricket.

I have supported Lancs for 50 years, The first 25 years felt like they were spent watching us mostly winning finals and conjuring wins from nowhere. The following 25 years have had loads of losing semi finals and the odd final

As for the fans, we seemed to be well out numbered by Kent, but that might just be our area of the ground.

Their fans properly got behind their team and also got stuck into our fielding. I never thought I would see the day when oppo fans and neutrals would be able to laugh their heads off at our fielding, but yesterday was that day,

I was there and had an enjoyable but disappointing day. Kent just seemed more up for it all day. Our fielding and catching was sloppy, then our batting had no urgency. A big outfield should have enabled lots of 2s but we often seemed to amble singles.

More Kent there than lancs, but this is probably because lots of lancs fans at football matches… us, PNE , city, Bolton, Blackburn etc all playing. Who do Kent have?….Gillingham

Disappointing end to a good year for lancs. We have some good players coming through. I felt sorry for Jennings, Croft and lamb who had good games but too many had an off day. Catching practice needed on Monday. Sloppy fielding probably cost us about the 21 runs we lost by

I was in the Fox Road stand and ended up in a decent 'bantery' mix of Lancs and Kent fans with the odd-one or two gobby-idiot that each set of fans sort of self-policed, other than one utter 'Graves-Bell-End' tool who commented on every ball and between every ball. In the end, enough was enough so I turned round 'made an observation regards his social skills and should we have vote on whether he should move?' And off the tool trotted, thus leaving a more settled and good-humoured area... until the last 4 overs when up he rocked again. When Evison took the great 'catch' off Lamb, he went wild with joy, I just said, "Watch it again, he grounded it..." Northerners 2 pissed up Kent tool nil

We were always '1-0' down, even after the the good opening 10 overs in both innings we seemed to take our foot off the gas and there was very little chat between the players.

Only Crofty and Jones looked up for it in the field - Lavelle was his usually chirpy-self and a good prospect if he slows down his first 4 overs when batting. Josh Boho needs to decide if he wants to be a red or white ball player. This season he has flirted between the two to the detriment (in the main) of his performance in both. The shot he got out to looked a chip, but a yard either side and it would have gone for 4.

Shots hit in the air and finding a fielder were the difference. There were 7 (I think) instances where Kent hit(mis) a ball and it fell betwixt and between our fielders (Ignoring the dropped catches here!) whereas ours went straight to hand.

One thing that did piss me off was during the first innings, there were 4 instances where the big screen had a high focus on Danny Lamb's grip in his run up, everyone was when he changed his grip to be a slower ball. No similar close ups in the second innings. Hmmm
A Second thing that pissed me off was how Darren Stevens bowled out his planned overs and then just walked off as the young substistute fielder was already waiting on the boundary rope and played the rest of the match as the boundary runner and closing quickly...hardly a 'like-for-like' replacement.
A third thing... nah, it just wasn't our day. And Kent have lost 8 (?) Finals, so good luck to them. We're starting to approach that number now tho!

Had some great days watching Lancs this season and was fortunate enough to see Luke Wells' century off 65 balls (50 off 29), Jennings reach 1000 runs for the season (in a game that saw his 4th successive century against that lot, 3000 runs for Lancs and 9000 career runs) and Tom Bailey take his 300th 1st Class wicket)

Next season, I susspect only one of Lancs or BFC will be in with a chance of silverware and success; but I'll be there at as many games of each I can be, irrespective of the outcome.
