O/T SAS Rogue Heroes.

Cheers Goldy for the heads up and I just watched the 1st episode.
Certainly, a very different breed of people puts themselves up for almost certain death at some stage in that time.

Link to the 1st episode below and highly recommended based on the 1st episode ☝😎

My brother said he didn't enjoy it at all. Said the language profanities were way way over the top and the soundtrack really didn't befit the show.

I'll have a watch and make my own mind up later.

Jock Lewes nephew is a mate of mine & recently published a book on the subject . Watched 3 episodes on Iplayer last night Slow at first , Sound track awful using modern rock music just doesn't work with the time its set in . So far i've been a bit underwhelmed by it , disappointing as I was really looking forward to it .

I wasn't too impressed with episode 1, but I'm sure it will get better.
There have been & there continues to be many courageous, selfless men & women in our armed forces. We must be grateful that they put their country before their own lives & families.

I bought the book off him! Signed copy.

Stirling was a **, sorry.
This a class thing?
If it wasn't for him and his ilk Africa would of fallen to axis control and effectively ended the war
I guess it's his anti trade union stance post war you don't like
But to be honest I am thankful we had people with his bravery and willingness not to fight the traditional English sporting spirit because the powers that be would never of thought to fight in another other way than traditional tactics
I'm really thankful his legacy and others like him have left us with secret people who fight around the world with no fanfare protecting us

A good film about the North Africa campaign in WW2 is Sea Of Sand. Made in the 1950’s it focuses on the Long Range Desert Group. John Gregson Richard Attenborough are in it plus a young Barry Foster who later became well known playing the Amsterdam detective Van Der Valk. It’s quite often shown on Talking Pictures Tv and Great Movies Action channels.

Watched it all on Iplayer . . thought the sound track was out of place for the period being depicted , . All in all i was underwhelmed by it . Having read a lot over the years about the LRDG , Sterling , Lewes & their operations I thought it was ok ish but a missed opportunity , could've been better .

Has your brother been in the Army (or Forces)?
I have, and that was quite normal.
