Steve Regal. Read a bit about him recently. Fascinating character. Not from Blackpool originally but always wrestled out of Blackpool in all the major wrestling promotions.

Does anyone know him or met him back in the day?

He's recently retired from the business but watched some YouTube interviews about his life story. Incredible life he's had He's always bigged up Blackpool in his interviews too. Never really read anything posted about Regal on here or anything about him seeing that his career was bled and a big part of his persona.

Also noticed he sells this T-Shirt which is mint.

Met Steve (William) Regal & Dave Finlay in Dublin about 15 years ago at a signing both lovely blokes & Regal commented on my Blackpool shirt.

Got Tibor Szackacs autograph at the Tower early 70’s. Did’nt know at the time he was blinded in one eye in 1966. He and his wrestler brother Peter escaped from Hungary in 1956 when the Russians invaded. Both hard as nails. Tibor ran a pub in Chelsea after retiring and died in his early 50’s.

I've always meant to get hold of William Regal's book Walking a Golden Mile as Blackpool, especially the Pleasure Beach, is supposed to feature quite heavily in it.

Prefered born and bred local guy Rex Strong.
Rex was Barry Sherman , my mum and dad bought his house off him back in the late 60's / early 70's on Ravenglass Close off Hawes Side Lane ( the only house i ever lived at in Blackpool ) think he was a life boat man too , his son played for the Seagulls ice hockey team but i can't remember his name.

I knew Rex (Barry) as a kid when I used to spend a lot of time down at the old Blackpool Lifeboat House next to Central Pier. At the time I knew he was a wrestler but didn’t realise how well known he actually was, eventually fighting all the big heavyweights of the day.

Looking back, it was weird that he was such a villain in the ring but such a nice guy out of it, and as a lifeboat man voluntarily risking his life to save others at sea.
