So it started in Oman yesterday with the major matches to be played in the UAE.

I live 800m's from the stadium in Dubai, it will be a nightmare with traffic and parking.

Fancy India to win this year.

Anybody coming over to watch?

I'd LOVE to be coming over to watch, it's on the bucket list!!
India are favourites (available at 3.55 on Betfair exchange, a smidge over 5/2) and look a good bet to me at that price...all their players will be comfortable in the conditions following the IPL and should all be fully prep'd and raring to go.
Only downside for me is the start times, I'll miss most of it through work, otherwise I'd be glued to it!

What are people's thoughts about boycotting India because of their disgraceful late withdrawal from the test match because of wanting to ensure they were available for the IPL? Having travelled from Lincolnshire with 2 others, we were just 15 minutes from the ground when it was cancelled.I know many others that had also travelled and had booked hotels and no compensation has been offered. I already know of a couple of others saying they will boycott them in future tours.

I thought that was absolutely terrible. They must have known it was happening, both sides. Wouldn't have been the same fielding a second or third string but it would have been better than cancelling the whole shebang at the last minute like that. It was a complete cock up and there should have been some sanctions against India for that
Just shows how money is ruling everything these days

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour by the Indians with an unbelievable excuse and stuck two fingers up to the fans who were due to attend and paid good money!

I doubt the Indians are concerned with any boycott, after all the ICC is run by India so any issues would probably be dismissed.

Eoin Morgan should be nowhere near the England team right now but as Captain he will be. He's averaged 7 in this year's IPL. Yes 7. He's no form at all and looked terrified to be at the crease. He needs a serious turnaround.

Agreed Mac although Eoin has been poor for a while.

The last IPL he struggled with occasional flashes of brilliance.

I don't think England are good enough to win.

Morgan is a fantastic captain so he will play.
I am sure he will turn it around with the bat as well
Form is temporary, class is permanent
It will be interesting to see who we have in our team, England probably have about two good teams of T20 players that would do OK in this tournament

If, as suggested, the replacement India test next year will not be in Manchester then thats the final kick in the teeth of this farce. The BCCI never wanted the fifth test to go ahead. They should have had the balls to say before they came, “we‘re not playing it”. And then deal with the consequences. Instead they let their players do their work for them.

England start their tournament with a game against West Indies at 3pm UK time.

Its a hard group to qualify from with 4 good teams chasing the two qualifying spots.

Lets hope Eoin is on his game for the next few weeks.

I'am not sure carrying a player just because he’s the Captain is enough.

He’s said himself he’s fully aware of his form going into this tournament and he won’t hesitate to drop himself if its the right thing to do.

We’ll soon find out. 😬

I agree Jaffa, no way should anybody out of form be in the team, just because he's skipper doesn't make any difference, he's done an amzing job as skipper for me but current form means everything. I'm still annoyed he's left Alex Hales on the naughty step and not recalled him by now and I've always maintained Dawid Malan is more suited to Test cricket than T20's, his strike rate is not good enough for this format. James Vince who is a traveling reserve should play in the middle order for me. I think as stated India are favourites and the team to beat, but we are more than capable of winning this thing even though we are definitely in the tougher group of the two.

Can't agree about Malan, certainly worth a place in the team, we'd be crazy to drop him.
Here are the ICC rankings;

Morgan doesn't just bring the bat to the party, his captaincy is worth a place on its own. He has acknowledged his problems with the bat but I am sure will play.

And to make things worse, the rearranged game for 2022 is now being played in Birmingham and not Manchester 😡

Australia making a complete mash of what should have been an easy run chase.

Can expect to push 160 on this ground.

Mighty Scotland struggling.

Edit that, all out for 60.

I suppose well done for reaching this stage of the tournament.
