O/T. Technical help needed.

Not being brilliant at computers etc, I need help.
Only started last week but when I reach the bottom of a thread and want to go back to the top I have a problem.
At the bottom of the page I usually just tick on the hand sign.
Now I don't get the hand sign to go up.
Hope you understand this gibberish, but need help please.
