O/T United Utilities cover up of dumping into Windermere

Government Environment Agency allowed it too….
That’s shocking.

I used to spend hours on and around Lake Windermere as a kid, as my parents had a holiday place there. We’d swim at Millers Ground (absolutely (bloody FREEZING!!) and hire rowing boats. My older brother once thought it was very funny to ‘leave’ me sobbing on one of the little islands, waving goodbye as he rowed off … 😂

Have a boat on Windermere so I’ve seen this with my own eyes it’s just shocking what goes in to the lake from this treatment plant any wonder why it’s the most polluted lake in the Lake District but 10 times more people swim in it than any other. 🤷‍♂️

The EPA and OFWAT need binning and reforming with genuinely independent management, not ex water company execs.

Very useful for their incompetence that the Freshwater Research Institute is no longer there.
I unfortunately had to deal with OFWAT in the North East. Their Board (about 12 people) comprised of all ex Northumbrian Water execs with one exception. That’s not independent.

Name and shame the people in charge.
Naming and shaming doesn't really work though, even if directors are found culpable they get to resign with massive payoffs and then either retire or move to another company (or take a nice little watchdog directorship). Need to start prosecuting properly. Some kid spray painting a public might get a couple of years in jail, company execs polluting lakes, rivers and the seas are given a mild reprimand and a pay off.

United Utilities are the worst supply company in the NW. They could not give a shit about customer service even when someone illegally taps into your supply line stealing water on your meter.
