O/T - Virgin Media

Absolutely vile company, their rep cold called, banged on the door so hard I thought he was going to put the door in and became rude, aggressive and intimidating when I told them I wasn't interested in signing up with them. Pretty much the standard for any dealings I've had with any virgin company. That's why I've never bought a virgin product and never will

Unfortunately I don’t think we can get the speeds we need with other ISP’s well last time I did a comparison the choices were woeful. But when the contract is up I will try again. I’ll be quite happy to get shut after a painful spat with them & 02 (which I did eventually win) I doubt if any of these companies PR’s are any good. We should all boycott until they improve, but it won’t happen. They are quick enough when they want your custom but you can spend hours on the phone when there’s something wrong. Wankers.

We had a dreadful experience with them trying to cancel after they’d hiked up their charges by a ludicrous amount.

Slightly alleviated by the fact they fecked up their closing account and (eventually) sent us a cheque for several hundred pounds we didn’t think we were owed.

We’d have raised it with them but knew from experience that their help line was useless. So we cashed the cheque and didn’t bother 😂

I have virgin and get 1,000 mb speed consistantly which is obviously fantastic. I’ve not had a problem with them this far so I’ve never had to engage with them. There’s. 6 of us in my house so we need really good speeds and they’re the only provider that can provide that in my area so it’s worked out great so far

It amazes me how fast broadband is not available in a lot of towns like Blackpool.

These are the speed comparisons I have where I have lived….

Blackpool - 40mps (still is) with BT
Frankfurt - 1 gps with DT
Jomtien, Thailand - 1 gps with True
Singapore - 10gps (yes 10!) with Republic

10 gps cost about 40 quid a month in Singapore and comes with wifi 7 kit included.

Openreach need to dig quicker 🤣

In the backwards Scottish Highlands we can get 900 megaworsels with any of the fibre providers. Was with BT, now with Sky to keep the price real. Virgin has a bad rep up here as well.

I'm not sure I'd get a decent speed to my property, it's widely known that Virgin don't go all the way

Government tardiness at rolling out superfast broadband. Then again, if it's not building mega-profits for your mates in the City, why bother?

Is Virgin Media the fastest in Blackpool? I’m with TalkTalk and getting fed up of it dropping and them saying it’s fine between 6pm and 9pm every single day

I finished with Virgin in January with whom I had TV, Broadband and landline, I still have mobile with 02 and have been in dispute with them for a while, over a bill for a phone which I don't have. They have finally admitted they were wrong and are paying me back all the overspend (£120)
TV Ariel and fire stick (not dodgy) which seem to do the trick, and save me around £55 per month. I have ditched the landline.

Is Sky Broadband any good in the FY3 area , currently with BT but the price has gone up too much for my liking !

Never had a problem wth Virgin, I am getting 274.75 mbps download and 26.37mbps upload, I doubt any other provider can match that. If you are running a potato and just browsing AVFTT then the likes of Talk Talk etc is probably fine for you.

I have Sky Broadband but it's still on copper on Preston Old Road (well my bit anyway) near Mere Park. Advertised as 20mb, get 12mb on a very good day, but usually mostly around 8mb. Apparently new fibre is in place, but not connected yet 🤔
