If you had to choose one year to listen to for the rest of your life. What would you choose and why?

For me it would have to be 1996. Songs such as Fugees Killing me softly, Oasis Don’t look back in anger, Prodigy Breathe, Gina G Ooh ahh just a little bit (joking on that one), lightening seeds 3 lions, all the great Brit pop music, rap/hip hop was in its peak, memorable dance music.... what a time to be alive, 13 at the time.

Great question. It deserves a lot of thought. I'll get back to you later when I've had a good think.

Right, after a quick ponder, my initial thought is 1979. The songs of that year are so varied and many cast iron classics were released. Too many to list. Google 1979 music to hear some great songs.

Mid 90’s for me. Will go for 97. The Verve, Lauryn Hill, Suede, James, cracking George Michael album.

Another from 1979, end of original Punk, some great New Wave, still lots of the great bands going strong. Probably one of the two years of my life when I saw most live music.

Classsic songs like God only knows , Sloop John B ( I wanna go home)and Supremes “Can’t hurry love” could not make No 1 as so many great songs around in 1966.
“These boots were made for walking “and “Pretty Flamingo “to add to the No 1‘s I previously mentioned.
Nearly forgot “Good vibrations” too.

1983 was a good year too.

The year is 1997 and a little known European band is about to change the world of music with their seminal classic.

The band are Aqua and the song, Barbie Girl.

For me it's somewhere in the late 90's. I love 80's. But the late 90's for me is where it's at. Bands like Reef, Skunk Anansie, Kula Shaker, Babybird. Speaking of which, the late 90's was CHOCK FULL of amazing 1 hit wonders!

Can't exactly pinpoint a year , but Sun Records in the late 50s heralded the start of rock and roll and the first music aimed at the young and not for their parents. Iconic .

1982 and all the new romantic stuff.
basically your favourite musical year should be the time you were going out the most and it all bringing back the memories.

Probs 1977, Pistols,Clash,Buzzcocks,Talking Heads,Television,Ramones,Elvis Costello, Stiffs,Richard Hell & The Voidoids, XTC, X -Ray Spex,Wayne County,Alternative TV, Sniffin’Glue Punk Zine,The Jam, MP’s debating “ If these Punk types want anarchy and destruction,we must destroy them first!🤣 Steel Pulse,Devo, Johnny Thunders and The Heartbrakers, Jon Cooper Clarke, Bob Marley ( Exodus), Pistols Thames cruise!! Loads of gigs, Plus ‘There’s Old wave, New wave, and there’s David Bowie’ clever marketing by RCA for Heroes. Loved it! stlll me favourite Bowie record. Er,think that’s it!

Blonde on blonde. Possibly greatest album of all time.
I prefer Highway 61 Revisited and Blood on the Tracks but for me Sgt Pepper is peerless. As for the year, I'll go for 1964: Millie - My Boy Lollipop, Petula Clarke - Down Town, Beatles - Hard Day's Night (song & film), Stones - Little Red Rooster, The Animals, Martha Reeves, Marvin Gaye. I wish I could've been 14 instead of 4.
the start of something special

1966 - not a lot to choose between those 3, but blood on the tracks is probably the one I listen to most. It's all down to tastes but I'd put at least 5 Dylan albums over Sgt peppers. I'd put beggars banquet above it as well.

A really tough one this but I would have to go for 1977; Marquee Moon, Exodus, Clash, Ramones, Talking heads (77), Pink Flag, Aja, Low, Never mind the, Animals, Lust for Life, Before & After Science, New Boots & Panties, One World, masses of punk, loads of classic reggae, a belting year
