Oh, I'm so sorry

I didn't realise Blackpool had played so well last night.
I must have missed all the decisive cutting runs our players made.
I missed all the creativity throughout the team.
All those flick ons from Lavs to the players making through runs.
As for MOM, it could easily have been Dougall, CJ or Carey.

I've now got a grip, can see the season for what it is, can now appreciate that 0-0 draws against two bang average sides in this division is the way forward and under no circumstances does this team/manager deserve any criticism whatsoever.
Surely it's just a matter of time before we're rubbing shoulders with Birmingham, Watford and Middlesbrough again.

I'll nibble!

We were an awful team 12 months ago, the thought of keeping 4 clean sheets in a row, against any opposition would have been seen as fantasy. We have several new players, all still bedding in. Joseph and Gabriel to return from injury. The club are clearly working on bringing in the centre forward we need. It took a few games to click under Critchley last time. Last night wasn't great, in particular the first 45 but our fans need to calm down a little bit, we have no God given right to beat any team, we will have a good season.

Gabriel might as well stay injured as he will only be allowed to play left wing back when he is back.

Are you trying to say playing against Birmingham is some sort of glamorous event?

Nibble all you want.

All I'm highlighting is the exact number of "entitled " headless chickens that expect instant success are cancelled out by the "blind faith" trust in the process fans.

Very few middle of the road.

Also, if the team has performed badly why is it so wrong with criticism?
If the team perform well, yes, praise.

Yes, we played badly last night, we still came away with something.

For me that's the definite sign of progress and what separates the good teams from the average, being able to play badly but still come away with something.

If we had played like that under Appletonk, we'd have come away with nothing except a big dent in our goal difference.

For me, that's a sign of progress and something to be celebrated

4 clean sheets suggests not all the team are performing badly. I'm definitely not in the 'blind faith' camp but any fan who is seriously moaning after 4 competitive games is over reacting a tad! We do need to improve, we do need a couple more in but I'm as confident as I can be that will happen. I guess you expected a side that barely registered a win last season to suddenly turn into prime Barca and win every game 4-0? 😂

I'd like to think I'm in the "middle of the road " camp as someone has called it.

We're going to get a few teams who park the bus at Bloomfield Road this season, and we need to move the ball quicker and players need to make more runs (like Husband did in the final quarter overlapping on the left) if We're going to beat them.

Last night was awful, and this being a football message board, it's reasonable to say so. They were happy watching us play it around slowly in front of them, apart from Marv of course (he defended brilliantly but please stop giving him the ball to play out)

It's not the end of the world but it was disappointing, I'm hoping/expecting the new signings to make a difference (Weir for example looked very good in his cameo). It's a solid start but not a great one imo. Critch is a cautious manager, so we're unlikely to roll over sides like some might expect.

I'm confident we'll improve

I think one or two more adventurous managers might think, " This lot can't score. Let's have a go at 'em. "

Well you have one of your “couple in” the much sought after Tashan Oakley- Boothe.

Fair comments.

It's the same posters saying "everything is fine" now as it was last season as we capitulated to being the whipping boys of the division. Some people just don't have it in them to express anything about a performance other than "it's all fine".

2 on target, 26 shots off target
The 3 league games the opposition have had the following chances.
(According to live score)

Are we defending well or have we just come across other teams who are as bad as us around the box.

We've had 10 on target , 21 off target by the way.

Not really, it's called patience. I expressed concerns about Critchley in his first spell and was proven wrong. That said, I wanted Appleton gone after Wigan away and was probably right. 4 games, 4 clean sheets, 2 wins is hardly time to panic and want the whole team binning off. Way too many bed wetters on here.

There’s a difference between thinking everything is fine and showing patience in a team that has only played three league games.

Last night was very poor and a worrying performance, but it’s also only the third match of the year. Very few people are saying last night was good.

There are two weeks left in the transfer market and the team is still trying to gel, I’m as frustrated as anyone at last night, but it’s not the end of the world.

We were bottom of the league after Critchley’s first 10 matches last time we were in this division and managed to win promotion, the season is long and isn’t defined by one match.

No need to hit the self destruct button, patience is needed.

It clicked under Critch when Coleman came in as his number 2. That helped solidify the defence, to allow us to attack. We’ve got the solid defence now, but we need to pick up players and positions and place them differently.
We’ve got the squad to have a successful season, tactics and formation will have the biggest impact.

We've got a shape and can defend, the diametric opposite to what we had last season.

No it's not. As one from the optimistic camp. I wasn't happy about Appleton from early on, gave him a chance but would have sacked him 3 months before Sadler did.

Norburn is the key to that. Had we had him this time last year we'd have stayed up fairly easily.

However, we are collecting players as if they're the grown up Panini stickers and I fear we have a Dale/Kirk scenario going on.

Calderwood. Ironically, defensive solidity is there, but Jerry Yates isn't. We need a goalscorer to support Lavery.

Glad you've seen the light 👍. There have been some really embarrassing posts since last night following 4/4 clean sheets and only in mid August so good to see. Nice one!

Glad you recognise CJ as 1 of the better players as well as he most certainly was our biggest threat.

Exactly this - best fans in the land my arse

I'd be happy to see that as it would leave more gaps for us to exploit. Vale were very well organised last night and maintained their shape whenever we had the ball. They were delighted with a 0-0 as could be seen from their ecstatic fans at the end.
We could have easily got one and then a couple more in the second half. We didn't. We move on.

I will come back to the fact that the two things that went wrong on Tuesday were:
1. They came to defend a point
2. We weren't set up in a way to counter that

I didn't think we were awful and nor did I think they were as bad as many had hoped.
Hopefully this Saturday will put that display to bed.

If we'd have gone at them from the off I think they'd have crumbled. Or is that not 'on message'?
