Ok, so he wasn't my first choice but...

Yeh great post. I was hoping we would move for someone else with a different style of play but it is what it is and in the position we are in maybe we are a good fit for each other on a temporary basis. I fully support him as i have done every manager we've had and his interview was fantastic to be fair to him and if it was down to me then he will as he hoped get a brilliant reception tomorrow. Just dont play the Miss Machine !!

I've been looking at his record at Ipswich. Took over in Nov when they'd won 1 out of the first 13 games, and steered them to mid table. Over the following three or four seasons they were consistently mid table, but also with a 7th and a 6th placed finish. The first full season following his departure they finished rock bottom.

I think people's views can be clouded by those 8 straight defeats at Cardiff, but that really is an anomaly in his career. He's generally done very well in the championship wherever he's been. It's until the end of the season with the sole job of keeping us up. Stuff good football for now, if we stay in this league it's a huge success considering the mess we've got ourselves in to.

I thought it was an uninspiring appointment. Based on the Raggy rant i looked at his career which is just over 1.4 points per game, so based on that we should be pushing for 52ish points, which might not be enough this season so he has to be performing beyond his average. Saying that, watched his interview and he comes across as positive, and said all the right things and i do remember an interview he did as wolves manager where he made the comment that the blackpool ground with two sides was always noisy and an intimidating place to come, with a full stadium it was really horrible.

i think he understands the club (hes watched some of our recent games), certainly better than appleton, but then i think the nemotodes understood the club better than appleton. he will prepare better than appleton, so we shouldnt be starting with strikers playing wing back, and suchlike.

Also hes been out of the game for twelve months, and there was another manager that on his appointment seemed rather uninspiring who had also been out of the game for a year who turned out to be quite good.

it cant be any worse than appleton. I think appleton going will generally lift most players. so here's hoping.

Not my first choice either for manager, living and working in Wales I get a lot of stick from Cardiff fans who can’t believe we have appointed him as manager.
The comments I received at work this morning were see you in League 1!!
