Some of you will have seen Michelle's post about OAFC. Regrettably, she has accurately described what seems a very difficult situation there.

As we understand it, the position is :

  • Oldham fans are (naturally) very concerned about the club's current position, but the real dissatisfaction with the owner (and his brother) goes far deeper than merely poor on-field results
  • specifically, there are real doubts about strategy, decision-making, financial management and management of key assets...
  • ... all of which is being compounded by what fans see as very poor communication from club to supporters

The current restrictions on ticket sales arise out of recent protests at Boundary Park. It looks as though attempts to stop fans travelling to and protesting at Leyton Orient tomorrow may have failed, as LOFC, supported by their Supporters Trust, are providing a pay on the gate option for visiting fans.

Oldham's "Supporters Trust" is actually established as a Foundation and has recently had some significant changes in personnel to reflect where they currently are and what they feel their role needs to be. They are joined by Push The Boundary, an action group that has been in play for some time now and has a significant membership.

BST are closely in touch with both and offering practical support and advice on a number of fronts. Having been where they currently are in the recent past we hope our fans will have some sympathy with their plight. We'll keep you in touch with developments as they arise, but for the moment what they really want is support on social media that keeps them in the public eye.

I'm sure the Orient fans will be very supportive, as they were when they were having their own travails and we went down and supported them.
