Thought our new skipper was different class today and exactly what we have been missing for years, gets stuck in, calm on the ball, always looking to find space to help his team mates and in the refs ear about every decision. Imo he was the best player on the pitch today (obviously alongside Lavery who took both his goals well). If we had Norburn last season we would still be in the championship.

He did a couple of class reverse passes, one that led to the 1st goal and another that led to Morgan’s chance he hit wide.
The yellow card slowed him down a bit tackling wise but thought he was different class

Can see why we been after him for so long. That sort of display is everything we have missed in that middle. Comes across a top professional with high standards and demands alot from everyone around him. Oh how we could have done with him last season. One game at a time but what a performance.

He played a through ball between the Burton defence right into the path of (I can't remember) and we nearly scored, it was sublime.
If today is to go by he will run the midfield at this level, Burton were poor and he will have tougher tests but he was quality in everything he did today

Yes he was very good today, but we must mix it up at times otherwise it can be predictable. Thats why Burton came
out in the 2nd half and made it harder for us.

Agree on that. Stewart in the promotion season bossed every game we played and allowed us to get away with two central midfielders only

Thought his calmness on the ball and the way he picked a pass out was exactly what we need to break down L1 teams from just hoofing it
Some of the interceptions he made were exceptional, Burton didn't know what to do when he was on the ball.
First time in ages we haven't just played head tennis in mid-field and he got it down on the ground and made some great passes.
Very excited to watch him.

If we had him last season, and he played like he did on Saturday then I think we stay up.
Can’t remember the last time one of our centre midfielders threw themselves into a 50/50 properly - as good as Patino is technically, you need the gritty side too.
