Ollie on gb news

Was being interviewed by Mark Dolan. Lots of general, typical Ollie bufoonery as you say, but he was upbeat and emotional about his time with us, lauding the closeness of the players with something to prove, the attacking intent, tha fans rocking bloomers, even singing the best trip himself...then he mentions Karl and his dad suggesting they were essential, even though they were seen as the villains! Totally ruined it there. Worth a listen though if you can find it (sadly can't do those linky things 😔)

You’d have thought he’d have found something else to talk about by now.

For such a gobshyte, he’s got a remarkably smal repertoire.
He's never on lauding Palace despite him walking out on us to go there. You'd think that would be his high point. He's never been able to recapture the time here.

I'll never forget his time with us, but it's time for him and us to move on.

I'm not sure why his leaving us is now used against him, he did three+ years which is more than most under the Oystons.
I'm not using it against him, although at the time, the lack of notice wasn't good. His mojo had clearly gone in the run up to his departure. He wasn't as upbeat as he had been.

I'm not sure he's ever really got that back as he had with us in that first couple of years.

He got us to the Premier League that I never imagined for one moment we would reach.
Without a doubt it was his most memorable time in Management, so of course he mentions it.
Fantastic memories and the best trip (so far) we have been on!
He got Palace to the Premier League via the same route.

Best manager we have had in past 50 years in terms of results and for most part great footy
As time passes I have doubts about his character and his failure to see how malign the Oyston family were

Suspect he views it as his best of times as a manager
Agree with above ,we have moved on and so should he

Not you, but some do, just like the 'transfer bonus' that no one actually knows anything about, then there were made up stories about affairs etc...

Why on earth does he think that OO and Koko were essential other than appoint him ?

What exactly did either of those two do . Nothing. Just sat there looking daft with their silly hats and home made haircuts.

Legend on the pitch and always will be
Always thought his hands were quite dirty In Oyston-esque shenanigans which is why he can’t afford to abuse the litigious vermin. Im sure he despises much of what he saw but did just nicely on a personal level, hence heaping of praise.

Palace wasn't really his team though. He took over a team built by Freeman (I think) and just dragged that team to the play offs after the hard work Freeman had done. I acknowledge he still had to get them there mind.

He must have been frustrated hundreds of times trying to sign players or just general penny pinching by the Oystons. So to hear him praise them repeatedly now is a joke. Hes either lost his memory or hes taking the p1ss.
Pretty hard to tarnish what he did here but hes having a good go..

I think it was the perfect storm when he was with us. But he's a very dull man with not much of any interest to say. How he gets punditry work is beyond me.

That's exactly how I read it Chunky. I bet he had his nose in the trough and who knows what else. The problem is every time we do OK they wheel him out with his special line in Oyston apologist homilies. Not for me.

The Oyston’s wore him down in the end.

Only so many times you can find cold showers and the lack of bog rolls funny. Becomes a daily chore in the end. The lack of basics. Coupled with his bipolar esq demeanour, and Oyston’s snaffling all the cash, it was bound to happen sometime. We got the best (trip) out of him, that’s for sure. I’ve no problem with him looking back fondly at a career highlight. We all do it.

How many other ex managers, players or staff have spoken out against the Oystons?

Most of what people are saying on here is rumour and conjecture, nothing based on facts except their dislike for Holloway. Well for me that 'buffon' gave me some of the best times as a Blackpool fan that I've ever had. No he ain't perfect but I won't be throwing the first stone. You only have to listen to the players from that era and their respect for him to understand how he made their careers so much more fulfilled than they ever dreamt of before he arrived. I didn't like how he left the club and his lack of understanding about our feelings towards the Oystons but without him we would never have got rid of them. His promotion to the Premier league made their greed ten-fold and they couldn't resist trying to steal even more than they had before. If ever I meet him I will shake his hand and thank him for his time with us.

Always be a legend in my eyes no matter what. Had us playing the best football I’ve ever seen pool play and gave me enormous amounts of enjoyment and memories.

He nearly did it twice!

I too didn’t like the way he left, but you can only take “no” so many times when you know what is needed,so can completely understand it.Absolute genius for me,never to be forgotten.

None that I can think of, but how many spoke out FOR them? There's only one. He is a seriously odd fish who should keep his counsel, especially given that his relationship with that appalling family all seems a bit too close for comfort. Someone will know what went on and one day it will emerge, most likely when the litigous one dies.

I can see why he'd say KO/OO were essential. They were imo, without them the players wouldn't have developed that close team spirit. It became all about what they could do despite KO/OO not because of and all with the knowledge that VB was waiting in the wings.
