Ollie on quest

When talking about Lavery this was his quote
"He's really got us on fire."
"We're on a roll at the minute."
And about Moore...
"What a save by the way, our sub goalie coming on."

Yes, I saw that. Whatever you think about him, it's nice to hear that he still has a soft spot for us. Let's face it, Blackpool had to be the highlight of his managerial career, given what he achieved and the circumstances he had to work under. He produced some of the most entertaining football I have ever seen by a Blackpool team and took us on an incredible journey. I know he left with a cloud hanging over him, but I suspect if SS was the owner at the time things would have been different. I also think Colin Murray has a soft spot for us as well given his knowledge and coverage of the boycott years and the fact that his green eyed boy Shayne Lavery is our player and doing so well....

His subsequent career has only proven that special time was even more special than it seemed. He is a sentimental man, and he is the main protagonist of the most improbable and wonderful period of our recent history.

"He supported the Oystons" his comments around 2015-18 were disappointing , I remember being pissed off about it at the time but it doesn't come close to untarnishing the memories he gave us for me.

To expand a little on my point above.

He had over three years here when no manager afterwards could stick a year under that family, in that time he took us to the PL and another play off final while playing the most exciting football I've ever witnessed at Bloomfield.

Give the man a break, just because some miserable fuckers bang on about him supporting the Oystons, the same miserable fuckers who happily handed their ticket and beer money over to that family for years and years, everyone is guilty of enabling them up to the boycott.

So let's drop the hypocrisy and just celebrate the man for what he did for us. If he wants to say 'we' in relation to us he's more than entitled.

Well said Lytham

He was the manager who gave us the best times of the modern game and playing the most exciting football for many a generation. As far as I’m concerned if he wants to quote himself as still being a part of the club (we, us , we’re etc) then that means he’s still got the club and fans at heart, every credit it to him 👏👏👏

Absolute class ..... Had to work under the toughest conditions but still absolutely loves us. Will never say a bad word about him after the football he produced . Love him. End of!!!

Hopefully Critch will have even better success and be a true legend
I think people are underestimating Thommo's role in our success, Evo said Ollie was rarely at Blackpool apart from the match buildup.

No he hasn’t. He walked out on us and continues to never criticise the Oyston’s
Which manager ever criticised them? Billy didn't, Macca didn't.

As for 'walking out' so did Grayson, who also never criticised them, left us in a worse position, league and player wise, than Holloway yet you welcomed him back as did everyone else, including Simon Sadler.

Which players have spoken up? A handful at most, Charlie is a hero to everyone yet has never criticised the Oystons and also walked out on us, in fact threw his toys out that January he couldn't leave, even got his Dad to plead his case he was that desperate to abandon us mid season.

Like I said, hypocrisy that's football fans though eh? Pick and choose.

Interesting point that Lytham. I'm struggling to think of any ex managers, coaches or players that have been publicly critical of them. Perhaps, it was written into their contracts? The football equivalent of a non disclosure agreement maybe? 🤔

There aren't many people who've been involved contractually with them that have since publicly criticised them except for Val. Even he didn't say anything much, the judge did. We've all seen how they'll throw money around suing and controlling people. And that's just what is public.

I think over the years a lot of people were probably taken in by their lies, and they managed to entwine them in their shady world so much that they didn't have much choice, and may still not be able to say things without risking incriminating themselves. Holloway wasn't the first. The truth may come out one day.

Doubtful it was in their contracts, I think it's just that criticising ex chairmen, whoever they are, isn't great for a long term career in the game.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher was plenty critical of him. Didn’t stop him applying for the manager’s job. All those senior players from the Premier League team would have snapped Karl’s hand off for a chance at coaching or managing under him

GTF is literally the only one, and then not massively, and then after he'd been rejected for the manager's job.

Even Brett was fairly neutral when asked why his testimonial was at Fylde.

They are still a powerful family. And they know how to throw their weight around.

We probably should let it go. I think he is a bit of an opportunist, but he did some great things for us and we will always have that.

100% Ollie thanks for the memories! Far too many to put in a post which is why I’m happy to forgive and forget about his Oyston supporting mistakes. I had a beer with him in G casino and he is a right laugh on the ale!

I do think the punishment doesn't fit the crime with Holloway sometimes, I get there is a bit of a bad taste left but does refusing to criticise the Oyston's really warrant the sort of comments you see made about him by some of our fan base? You see some real vitriolic remarks made about him

Fair enough if he was just some random manager but he got us to the Prem, 3 seasons of the best football in tangerine we'll see and the majority of the best memories ever supporting Pool were made under him. Leaving us the way he did and his Oyston comments over the years are disappointing and have tarnished legend status most likely but really when you hold his achievements here up against his disappointing moments since he's left, the latter pales in comparison
