Ollie RL Interview

Interestingly he said without a shadow of doubt we would have stayed up if Gilkes hadn’t got injured and I completely agree. We simply couldn’t afford the luxury of having such a below par keeper in goal.

From his perspective, he'll mean there was no day to day interference on football matters. By all accounts, a lot of Chairmen and owners like to have their say on s3lection. Providing funds will be another.

"It's Not Orange It's Tangerine" uploaded a live stream of the full Sky coverage, I watched the club's live stream on the Friday then found that and watched the pre-match/post-match content on Saturday as I'd never seen it having attending the match. After the match, all the pundits were talking along the lines of: "even if Blackpool come straight back down, the money they'll get from this match will be enough for them to build an infrastructure, build a foundation for their club which will leave them in an amazing position in comparison to where they were before"

The reality was going from the 1st division to the 4th division within 5 seasons. Same training ground, temporary East Stand and a South East corner, with money syphoned into his Daddy's accounts. The man then went on to mock and sue fans who protested it. How he can claim that is the best chairman he's worked with is beyond me and a spit in the face of Blackpool fans.

I accept everyone has their own opinion on Ollie and some simply dislike him because he praises KO. In fairness Ollie is talking about his experience with KO in that brilliant period of promotion and great football. I think the major problems came after Ollie left and the Oystons started to milk the club of the Premiership money. Some of KO's antics, like not paying agents, were supported by the fans. They were never popular owners but fans put up with them to a degree until their naked greed took out so much money from the club. I fully supported NAPM. I'm just giving my honest opinion.

If he keeps on giving Karl credit, I won't bother listening thanks.
As is the norm, it was mostly about how good he is and he moaned that "I was called me a butt spider" - for loving Karl, who he continues to giving glowing testimony to. His best story was about Brett, who against the rules ordered 2 x chips and beers in his hotel room the night before a game - "ask my wife gaffer, I have that every Friday night to chill me out" - you can't help but love Brett - not so much IH for his persistent glorification of Karl!

He does it because :

a) he knows he will never return to BFC in all likelihood and if he did he thinks he’d be able to smooth it over with his gift of the gab

b) he knows it is controversial to support one of footballs greatest bad guys as it gets him coverage and copy which gets him more exposure and media gigs and money, all of which I think he very much likes having.

c) the best chairman years were when we were going up and the chairman was spending someone else’s money...which he is more than comfortable at doing and then claiming the credit.

Much as I firmly believe we would never have done it without his unique managerial ways, and it was him to a large degree that set up that team and made them believe, he has proven to be quite a poor manager eleswhere. Sometimes a club fits a manager and then everything falls into place.

He has burned his bridges with a lot of Pool fans with his gob since that’s for sure.

He could drown puppies while laughing manically in his spare time for all I care, he gave me and my Dad memories that will never fade.

Let's not forget that the majority of you lot on here thought Joffrey was a decent chairman for most of his tenure and the few of us who dared speak out were ridiculed.

We all kept giving them our money until it was too late, so we're all culpable. Much the same as ex players speaking out, still took the money didn't you. Holier than thou after the event is worthless.

Forever grateful for the job he did but the fact he still won’t criticise Karl makes him dead to me

I posted on a different thread that I will always have the memory of watching us in the PL with my lad (he was 15 at the time), and that it was Ian Holloway that made that possible. I know we had a great group of players but IH will always be the guy (for me at least) who made it happen.
I will ALWAYS be grateful to Ian Holloway for that.

I can't speak for the "majority of you lot on here" because I don't know anyone (don't think I do anyway), but always felt KO was a dreadful chairman. Easy to say now perhaps, but even then I was very frustrated at the lack of ambition/funding for potential targets. That's why my username at the time was "Failedtoagreeterms" (crap name I know), when we couldn't even sign John Stead when we got to the PL. He preferred to stay warming the bench at Sheff Utd at the time!

2011 January transfer window anyone??

So I will respectfully disagree with you there, but I really miss the Dear Joffrey posts though 👍

As for Athers's point about refusing to criticise KO, it actually went further IMHO. On the Quest football show, he said without any prompting that "Karl Oyston was a part of the success". Although I will always hold IH in very high regard, I thought that was cringeworthy.

I can't do Dear Joffrey any more, like shooting fish in a barrel.

I will always love Ollie for what he produced on the pitch but find it really hard to accept his blinkered (understatement) opinion of Karl. I spoke to Ollie a couple of times, before we were promoted, and his words to me were about how tight-fisted he was. That said I can't help myself saying it was the best trip.
PS.
I haven't listenned to the Radio Lancs interview. Despite what I've said I prefer my own and the players memories.

He thought so much of Karl that he repeatedly threatened to leave and subsequently did so,

Bizarre logic IH
