Glass Torpedoes too. I missed it because I couldn't afford a taxi on my own and couldn't persuade any of my mates to leave the Falcon vaults and join me. Regret not going it alone to this day. I reckon it might have been 1980?

Newton Arms was my watering hole around that time Mark but had a ex school mate around Hodderway & used to call in at the Falcon vaults occasionally for a game of darts & decent pint of thwaites.

The main draw was its semi snooker table. There was a full on league for this size back then. Good but a poor reason for missing g out on Joy Division 😬
I seem to remember there was a snooker table at the Highcross as well. Or it might’ve been a pool table. Or that might have replaced the snooker table. Or I could be completely wrong.

OMD . I was there. THEY still had Winston . Which is now in the peoples Museum in Liverpool. Joy Division did a fairly short set. My memory is fading but my adoptive sister got a hug of Ian Curtis. I did have a guitar pick but god knows what happeneed to it. Just remnember it being lkke so hot sweat was coming down the wall.

Anyone seen them recently?
2019 supported by MiG15 (McCluskey's lads band)

2021 Architecture and morality tour, supported by Stealing Sheep (scouse girl trio)

OMD are brilliant live.
It's only been the last 20 odd years since I've seriously gone to gigs. Regret not doing it regularly in my younger days.

Saw them at Lancaster Univ. In 1981 as a 16 year old...

Next time I saw them was 40 years later in 2021 at Manchester Appollo.

Great live; McCluskey is still very energetic.

I will be 96 next time I see them! 😆

I went to this one and Joy Division with a big draw though also local band Final Solution were on bill. Joy division were the big draw. They had just been on Tony Wilson slot on granada reports the night before. Great bill

If I had a Time Machine this might be one of the first gigs I’d travel back to see!

OMD and Joy Division in 1979… wow. Even thinking that they played at the imperial, which isn’t far from where I grew up in the 90’s is slightly surreal to me.

Another who used to frequent the Falcon school lunchtime, often forgetting to made the afternoon lessons

Heard that Walt Disco were the support act for this tour.
Were they any good?
I was at the gig that night. I thought Walt Disco were quite good. A bit different! I liked the animated drummer. He was fun to watch.
OMD were excellent as well. It was like a greatest hits night.

Stealing Sheep were VERY odd! 🤔

More like stealing a living!

Much as I loved. Neil Peart and agree with the widely held consensus that he was probably the greatest drummer ever, for me. If I had a time machine, rhe first gig I would go back to is a John Rutsey era Rush gig.

I've seen that classic Lee/Lifeson/Peart line up several times but was only around 11 had yet to discover the delights of rush when Rutsey left due to his health issues
