It was on GMB yesterday Mex, they played a report by Katya Adler who was referring to 'fisherpersons' and of course Mr Hidden Agenda (Piers Morgan) never stopped going on about it!
 
It’s not the first time it’s been censored - Radio 1 did it years ago, but backed down after a while and started playing the original again. And it was only radio 1, other BBC stations could play the original.
The words were also changed for TOTP.

Just imagine the hell these poor people have been going through for the last 35 years. God job it's one of the lesser known Xmas songs, so only tends to appear on every TOTP Christmas repeat, every Xmas CD compilation album, tannoy system of every shop you go into from October - January, and fortunately there's only one radio station that plays music so if they tune carefully they should avoid it there too.
 
Utterly ridiculous, especially when Radio 2 and up to 6 DJs can play the original version anyway. YNo wonder I rarely listen to R1 when it is controlled by these Woke types. The whole organisation needs an overhail and yet another own goal by them
 
Very silly. The word Faggot is not used as a homophobic slur, the song is set in an age way before the word was used as a derogatory term.
The BBC will ban Clifford T Ward "gay" next. (Mind you I would support that!)

tbf they may be called lunchtime assistants nowadays? i no longer go to school and the food was er not to my taste back in the day 😀 so i went out for lunch.

The BBC haven't banned it. Radio 1 are playing an amended version. Everyone is referring to scumbags and faggots.
 
During my lifetime there have been some unbelievable banning on records by the BBC.

We are all familiar with the banning of “Relax”
Here are some more which Ithink are ridiculous.

”Tell Laura I love her” Not sure why apart from the death of a racing driver.
”A hundred pounds of clay“ by Craig Douglas.
“God only knows” ( for a limited period) as both records would upset the bible bashers!

I am sure there are more and havent included the obvious ones,

tbf the original was always a little 'risque'.
We live in strange times though.
Had a free trial of amazon music a few months back and when i asked alexa to play some music it played this one quite often.
I was pretty shocked tbh & concerned that this is the type stuff kids are listening to nowadays ( God I sound like a real old fart 🤣 )
Just checked the official youtube version has over 600 million views & this version with lyrics has over 17 million.

Ridiculous, this is my favourite song of all time what absolute snowflakes that are our there. Believe its the word "fagot" that's the reason why, I can almost bet its straight do gooders who are trying to ban it, the same ones who vandalised monuments to great men e.g Churchill

Why not ban the BBC themselves I googled BBC Desperate Housewives before to see was it on and what came up was something completely different 😂😂 why not ban the name BBC too 😂😂🤣

The new(ish) head of Radio 1 is Aled Haydn Jones - some might remember him as the producer from the old Chris Moyles show back in the day.

It's no surprise really that a homosexual man wants a song containing a derogatory term to homosexuals - even though that may not have been The Pogue's original intention - edited on the radio station he now controls.

Either way though I don't really see what the big issue is as it's been edited on loads of other radio stations for years.

Bit of a recurring theme through history though; this feeling the next generation is going to hell in a handcart.

Our parents thought it was all going wrong because we grew our hair long and wore flares (they had a point to be honest) but then acted like a bunch of snowflakes if anyone was rude about the Queen (God Bless ‘er) or mentioned sex or used rude words. And then banned our songs.

Now we think our kids are a bunch of snowflakes and need to toughen up. Eat soil, fall off their bikes, climb trees etc (except when we think they should stay in their bedsits and stop infecting us with this Covid thingy). But do they listen? Of course they don’t. Instead they censor our songs!!

It’s a conspiracy between our parents and our kids to ruin our lives - I tellya!!!

Faggot is a food, and when I went to school someone who was gay was a happy care free person. It was a popular girls name in fact. And why do coloured bands refer to one another using the N word yet expect everyone to kneel down for them before every bloody sporting event? World has gone mad!
