Lancs playing Sussex at Sedbergh in the soon to be obsolete 50 over Royal London Cup.

Decent enough team despite having players in the Hundred.
  • Keaton Jennings
  • Josh Bohannon
  • Luke Wells
  • Dane Vilas(c)
  • Steven Croft
  • Rob Jones
  • George Lavelle(wk)
  • Danny Lamb
  • Tom Bailey
  • Liam Hurt
  • Jack Morley
Sussex batting first . . . stream not up yet.

I don't expect this thread to get much traffic!!! :) 🌹

Why is this being played at a school ground in Cumbria? Hardly anyone there. Would have been perfect for Blackpool CC on a day like today.
Would 100% agree, Sedburgh is an absolute nightmare and is two fingers up to the many members and fans who'd want to attend but can't due to transport logistics. Strangely, the club lose money when hosting at Sedburgh so seems like a lose-lose situation.

However I don't think Blackpool CC was able to host any Lancashire games this season on account of work on the ground having been delayed. Hopefully they'll have a game or two next season!

It whiffs of upper class "old school ties" bollocks having professional cricket at an exclusive school for the super wealthy in another county that's for sure.

Soon to be obsolete? Didn’t know that.

I don't think it is. Nothing on Google if it is. Think it's the posters opinion due to The Hundred. I'm pretty confident that on the basis there is a world cup 50 over tournament there will always be a 50 over county event.

That's why it is a shame that the best players are not competing. England are the current holders, so it should have more importance and priority than it is currently getting,

Considering this depleted Lancs team, this is a good performance by the bowlers and the fielding has been top class.

Yep, Lanky bowling and fielding very well.
Sussex 196 for 6 off 41. 2 overs
Danny Lamb just taken the 6th wicket with an ugly leg side delivery which the 19 year old batsman edged to the keeper.

Sussex also fielding a young side today. I really hope this 50 over game, with its great history, doesn't become the equivalent of football's league Cup where weaker sides are fielded.

Sedbergh is a lovely ground and very picturesque. But it's not in Lancashire! If Lancs want a second home, then Liverpool (for the large local population) or Southport/Blackpool/Lytham (for the locals and holidaymakers and better transport links) would be more worthy of the extra investment. Perhaps Crofty can have a word.

Sussex finish on 270-9. Slow and steady without any fireworks from a young Sussex team. You would think that Lancs would take this in their stride

Working in Sedbergh last Tuesday and asked one of my clients why they had signs for parking for the Lancashire County ground when Sedbergh is in cumbria but part of the Yorkshire dales.
He said we have a Lancashire LA postcode ,same as Kendal five miles away.

It's set up for a good entertaining chase. Sussex pegged us back there.

Women's 100 starting soon on Sky. On leave this week so a double dose afternoon of cricket and the mens 100 later. Lovely.

I can’t make head nor tail of the fixture scheduling. With BFC you know exactly where you are. Sat and Tue/WEd.

Cricket is a mess and detracts from the enjoyment

Why sedbergh? Money as the school can sell itself as being good enough to host county cricket.

Wrong on all levels

Very disappointing from Lancs losing the first 3 wickets with just 19 runs on the board. 🤬

Vilas and Jones have taken it to 54/3 now these two need to keep it going for a good few overs more.

Wow, that’s impressive, it’ll do the squad a lot of good. Really impressed how Lancs are progressing in all formats. Used to go a lot, mainly Sunday sat at the top of the pavilion, watching the likes of Flat Jack and Sir Clive.

Took my lad the other week, the tied match, we had a great time. I need to look at ticket options for next summer.

Wow - what a setting - what a game - what a result. Cricket at it's absolute best. Just a word about that Sussex lineup - mainly youngsters - to come so close to victory - excellent effort. Their future is bright - very bright.

Really surprised we won that after a poor batting start & vastly weakened team , with Davies leaving as well I was about to start the “Allott out” campaign 😀

Missed the Lancs result as had to go out! OMG!

Weird watching two Lancs players batting for Birmingham here.

I bet Sedbergh get a game next year as well while the Fylde Coast that once boasted 2 out grounds gets ignored. No plans either ever it seems to take County Cricket to East Lancs that has given Cricket so much over the years.
Red Rose together is the hashtag that Lancs love to use. Absolute bollocks!

Completely agree. Seems that the Lancs board and Allott in particular want to cosy up to the public support network. There’s always talk each year from Lancs of a game coming to the traditional outgrounds - and then somehow it never happens…

I believe there will be a 4 dayer at Southport and Birkdale after skipping a year. Great day out.

I think Blackpool will get at least one game next year as Lancs/ECB/Blackpool council have just spent £250k on the out field...it's still a bit lumpy though, mainly due to tufty bits as the grass gets rooted properly.
