Our most successful Loan striker

So over the last 20 years or so - certainly since after loans became a big thing - who has been our most successful striker on loan? Surely the most sought after of positions and not that often that you hear of a loan player really breaking through as a striker - always tends to be more midfielder and defenders.

Don't think he was a striker but do you remember us getting a lad called Wayne Gill in on loan. Think at the time he got a record for most goals in consecutive games for a loan player at the club.

Gill was brilliant. Scored a load of goals for us. Alan Gow was another.

I always liked Jason Puncheon. Saints fans hated him though.

Has to be Dave Bamber on loan from Hull, I think we made it a permanent at Xmas.
His goals made a massive difference that season.

The question is, Does it mean someone who's been on loan and then goes on to have a good career. Shelvey hits that button. Does it mean someone who's had a great career and who then comes on loan to us....Kevin Phillips, or does it mean some one who's performed well for us whilst on loan? (that's DJ).

We went downhill after that.

Anyone remember Mick Hill from Ipswich Town?.Only ever played in the Anglo Italian for us in 1972.

Played 5 scored 5 including 2 in the famous 10-0 Lanerossi game.Pool wouldn't meet Ipswich's valuation for a permanent move.
