Out of contract

It has to come out with 7 days of the season ending so by Friday night at the latest. Most teams, probably is as well, get them out on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. A small number came out on Sunday. Shrewsbury for example 👍
Ok right thank you

I'd say Ekpiteta and Husband can move along now - i can't put up with comedy defending anymore.
I doubt that what we'd get go replace them in L1 would be better.

Comedy defending is a bit of a daft comment in my opinion. They are not perfect but they are highly committed and take responsibility. Good at this level. I think our main weaknesses this season were playing three at the back with players who are better in a four, and the lack of quality out wide and up front. The midfield two never quite came together either.

I think Marv, Hubby, Virtue and Lavery will all choose to leave and we won't keep Connolly.

I think we will lose Grimshaw, Gabriel and Norburn to other clubs for a fee so that would leave us with a squad of 11 players including Thompson and Apter but excludes keepers. That would mean at least 10 new players to make the squad up, more because some will go out on loan so it's hardly been great recruitment over the past couple of years.
Which mad b@stard is going to offer money for Nogood?! 🤪😂

I wouldn’t lose sleep about any or all of them going to be honest. It doesn’t really matter who stays and who goes as long as Critchley keeps playing this bl**dy awful system that suits none of them. If he signed Haaland he’d have him as inverted wing back!
If, as seems likely, he does persist with 'playing this bl**dy awful system' - the question must surely then be asked: why?

At the risk of being accused of suffering from naked paranoia (following the utterly shambolic final-day performance against Reading), and we all know the suspicion has been raised previously - but, again, I have to ask the question: were the team following instructions? Because it almost seemed as though there were a host of factors (Northampton Town need to be mentioned in despatches here ...) involved in trying to edge us into the pay-off spots - but with one key agent refusing to 'play ball' in what presented as this most gift-wrapped of opportunities: Blackpool Football Club!

I know raising any suspicion of subterfuge, as cause for what unfolded on that fateful afternoon, may strike many as being nothing more than sour grapes on my part, and I accept that, but, even now, I'm still left with something of a bitter taste in my mouth for what sadly came to pass on what might otherwise have served as a momentous day for those of us who are of a tangerine persuasion. I suppose I'm basically raising the point that there would appear to be more behind this rather regrettable sequence of events than any of us will ever know - and I guess that is a part of the pact you make when you sign up to follow the Mighty.

Ekpiteta
Lavery
Connolly
Husband
Virtue
O'Donnell
Carey +1 will stay

Four loan players Dembele Rhodes Coulson Byers

I'd like Ekpiteta and Husband to stay and try to sign Coulson and Byers, and maybe Rhodes but fitness issues have to be taken into account.
I’d offer new contracts to Ekpiteta and Lavery - the rest can be thanked for their efforts and commitment and wished farewell.

Both players need to learn how to control the ball better than they have done before offering them any further contract !

I still think Marv is our best defender. It would help if we didn’t piss about so much at the back putting players under pressure.

As for Lavery, he’s not been the same since he did his hamstring against Blackburn, but as an impact player off the bench I still think he’s a useful asset.

He believes 'when you've got the ball' the opposition can't score, keep possession and presumably direct and attacking football isn't in his mantra. He'll point to his home record this season. When we do get chances our conversion rates our low. Get strikers in who can improve that and who knows he might have been right all along. It just won't be exciting to watch.

Marv needs to go. Can’t play in a back 3 playing out from back. Hubby too. Beyond his best. Lavery never had a run of games but why? Injury prone? Funny how attached you get to players but critchley is paid to be totally objective so like he says some tough decisions will be made. Which is fine but what will it cost to find superior players in Critch’s beloved system. We ain’t got the money to rebuild… simples!!

Ekpiteta 👍
Lavery👎
Connolly 👎
Husband 👎
Virtue 👎
O'Donnell 👍
Carey +1 will stay 👍

Four loan players Dembele 👍😄 Rhodes 👍 Coulson 👍 Byers 👍

On the flip slide... losing Lavery, Connolly, Ekpiteta, Virtue and Husband will free up loads of wage budget to bring in new players.
Add to that the funds from selling Gabriel and possibly Grimshaw (and hopefully Dom Thompson!) should open up finances to offer contracts to the best players available on free transfers.

The following players are all out of contract:
GK: Marko Marosi - Shrewsbury - age 30 - 6"4, player of the season 22/23, fans player of season 23/24, also won their last 3 player of the months.
GK: Jon Mccracken - Norwich - age 23 - Impressed on loan at Dundee (Scottish Prem) keeping a 45% clean sheet rate.
CB: Conor Masterson - Gillingham - age 25 - 6 goals and their player of the season.
CB: Sam Sherring - Northampton - age 23 - highly rated ball playing defender who made 5 assists.
LB: Will Ferry - Cheltenham - age 23 - 6 goal involvements.
LB: Rio Adebisi - Crewe - age 23 - 12 goal involvements.
AM: Dan Kemp - MK dons - age 25 - 29 goal involvements (19 goals + 10 assists)
Winger: Jack Nolan - Accrington - age 22 - 31 goal involvements (17 goals + 14 assists).
ST: Ruel Sotiriou - Leyton - age 23 - 16 goal involvements - Cyprus international.

We could easily replace our departing players by poaching other club's out of contact players.
