Over 15,000 home fans

We had just 2 years ago against Southend in what was the first game back for many

Why on earth can't we get the same this Saturday for a much bigger game in a higher league with a better standard of players

If Cardiff sell out their initial allocation they will get more and have potentially half as many fans as us

So much for home advantage

Strange .....

I wouldn't even describe the Southend game as a once in a lifetime event, it was such a unique situation. The first home game back after the greatest fan boycott (IMO) in history, there is a reason it had such a pull and it is why we saw the highest home fan attendance at Bloomfield Road for 40+ years. Using the Southend game as a point of reference is a ridiculously high standard to hold any other fixture to.

It is not out of the realms of possibility we will see all 3 main stands sold out, leaving only one half of the East empty and the other half full of Cardiff. That in my book is good going and will make for an amazing atmosphere, I can't bloody wait.

That's the way it's been in Blackpool since the late 1960s. There's lots of people that live in Blackpool that have no allegiance to the town and lots and lots of fans that grew up in the town and moved away when they left school that can't travel to every game anymore or like yourself who probably can't make it midweek for a Cup game.
We do of course get the glory hunters who will turn out at Wembley but it would be interesting in both 2010 and 2012 how many of those fans only watched that one game that season.
That's just the way it is. UTMP

Just out of curiosity, how many tickets do you think have we sold to date for the game ?
North stand is obviously full, and the West looks pretty decent as well.

I know people who made a special effort to travel from all over the country and from abroad to celebrate the end of over 30 years of ownership by the Os and a massive effort over 3 or 4 weeks to sell all the tickets. Cardiff just doesn't have the same significance

I had a relative join me for the Southend game because of the hype. She definitely wasn’t interested in attending any other game after that !
Southend was a unique moment really.
The same relative will watch the play offs in the pub but follow no other games at all.
Not justifying it but at the end of the day nobody has to justify what they do to be honest.
A lot of folk will only attend the big big games, that’s the nature of a lot of attendees that ramp up the numbers from time to time I guess.

I believe there is an update saying 1500 still available. Plus the 2500 in the North East. If Cardiff sell their 2500 then we should be looking at 13K+. It is a shame we won't sell out but there are other factors that weren't the case for the homecoming like more weekend workers in holiday season, financial situation and C19 isolation reasons.

So what's happening to the missing 6,000 Blackpool fans

That's a massive number for a club like us
In my families case my wife, daughter and mother in law went to the Homecoming...they don't even like football so will probably never go again.

They just wanted to be there to celebrate and also stick two fingers up to that family of hairy mammoth lovers....tvvats.

Nailed it. Great comment. 300 miles round trip for me. And the M6.

Still a decent enough turn out that will lift the roof off the North. 😁
Myself and kids ( their first ever time at Bloomfield Road ) are sitting in R block, and will be singing ourselves hoarse.

Someone counted the seats left in the home ends on the "North Stand has sold out thread", only 1.5k tickets left. Which would put us at around 9.5k home tickets sold currently

We'll easily get over the 10k mark, add hospitality to that and add 2.5k Cardiff and we're looking at a 13k+ attendance on Saturday!

Are Cardiff bringing 2.5 K!
I would have guessed at 1.5K although we are in August and lots on staycation.

The game is not a “wow” factor. It was only 6 years ago that we were last in the Championship playing many seasons.

I know of a lot of people who went to the Southend game that would not go normally. It was an event, a piece of history, we are talking about wives and kids who might go to a play off final but don't go week in week out, there were a lot of them that day.
If we get in excess of 12,000 on Saturday and average that through the season I'm thinking the owner will be fairly happy.

Why do people assume 2500 will come from Cardiff? I would ge surprised if they brought half that figure
They will sell out

Lockdown in Wales has been worse than anywhere else in the UK and restrictions only just lifted

They have put them straight on general sale as well so every tom dick and nob head will fancy a jolly boys in Blackpool

On their forum they reckon they've sold around a thousand, but they ony went on sale just before the weekend. I'd say they will manage 1600-1800.

They have a terrible record at ours. Let's hope it continues.

It's very early days but if we think the Championship is our natural level then we need to lose the '10k is good' mentality. An average mid-season game needs to be 13k+ if we're going stick around at this level for long. We can't rely on early/end of season games with big away followings to bump up the figures which is why I believe closing the East is short-sighted.

Hopefully we'll start to edge towards that level as the season progresses but the East needs a re-think at some point.

Blackpool i think have a hard core of around 5 to 6,000 fans that will watch them regardless of what league there in then after that a lot of it depends on what league were in, who were playing, general buzz about the club, like most clubs the better we do the more people watch and it works the other way as well.

Yep that's exactly how i see it

For the life of me i can't understand why more hasn't been done to sell the north part of the east to Blackpool fans

Well the 3 sides hold 10,519 ( not including corporate) but with the missing 2 North rows it's about 10,339.

Minus off the aprox 1550 unsold and that gets you to aprox 8800 sold.

We just don't know the demand of those still awaiting to buy.

Habits meant that usually sales increased nearer the time and a big on the day walk on, is that even possible this time?

Also 30 on the day is too much for many id imagine.

I dont see how we get to that 13k+ without the north part open to home fans if we get that far, but that doenst look like its possible with what the board said.

I'm estimating, if we have currentlt sold ~9000, Cardiff sell 2500 and corporate is full 800, that means we need to shift 700 tickets between now and kick-off, some folk like to keep things flexible and will be looking to pay on the day. I'm relatively confident we'll be around that estimate.

Don't forget Covid will still put some people off and it's still school summer holidays so a lot of families will be away that will have an impact on the sales

When we were booking our tickets, there were very few options for 2 adults and a child together.
There were also many single seats and perhaps not too many supporters want to go alone.
We also don't know how many seats will be netted off and in any event, the front rows afford poor views - especially for the prices.
The family area in the NW is a pretty poor view (we cleaned those seats for 2 days) and should be better located to give the youngsters a decent view.
It would be great to have a full house, but whatever the numbers, the players will think there are 50,000 cheering them on - right until the final whistle.

I'm sure if there is demand for more seats and they can be sold they will be put on sale.
There might be issues with the grounds safety certificate though, but that's just speculation on my part.

Yeah tried to get an idea of how many Cardiff sold but no joy. Only daw that they may had sold over 1k a few days back but ita not reliable. I hope they do sell 2500 but every time I said so people said they never sell that many.

15,000 went for the Southend game then 3 days later 7,400 for the Doncaster followed by 8,300 on a Saturday for Plymouth there is your answer straight away.

We simply don't have the supporters who unless a one off token game, PL(and it's bounce after) or a Wembley final who will rock up regular and some wanted the East opened for homes let us sell what we've got first.

You miss the point in spectacular fashion

Another barbed OP. How original. We could all do that. But we aren't obsessed with irritating other people.

Anyway Covid worries will be the reason.

If it were full you'd no doubt post about "** glory hunters" and ask where they were in the wilderness years.
Will Phil be there on Wednesday, Saturday and Tuesday? I doubt it.

If he was, there would be a thread on it.

As a first game for your kids to go to it should be perfect with the atmosphere & a 3-1 win (get a couple of quid on it, it’s a certainty!)
I was lucky that when I took my 2 eldest we won & my youngest we drew, I took his Nintendo as he was only 5 & I knew he would be bored after 20mins- he didn’t get it out of his pocket once as it happened!
Have a great day

Yep talk about cutting your nose off

Its bizarre and bordering on incompetence not having some sort of membership
The thing is who is it aimed at? At first I thought ok hitting away fans but most away fans will buy in advance, with a massive journey you dont leave it until the day and risk it.

The main on the day fans are pool fans.

I understand planning and preferring people bought earlier maybe for steward number etc, but its a big way our fanbase has bought.

The club know the on the day walk on following pattern, as for eg when that i think it was a Fleetwood game fairly recently happened and wasn't allowed to be pay on the day, people at the club were worried as they thought it would affect sales.

So it does seem a weird move.
