...Portsmouth apparently. Come in with a substantial offer for him.

Highly frustrating seeing some top proven players join the teams above us, and now a player we so desperately wanted in the summer!

Thing is he’s done nothing at all since last summer and was totally absent when we played them.
Wouldn’t bother me one bit if he went to Portsmouth or anywhere else for that matter.
I’m not even sure we are in for him right now rumour mill gone very quiet and nothing coming out of the club with reference to him whereas we’ve been linked to several other players.

He's a good player and would only improve when surrounded by a better team. I suspect we will be in for him but it'll obviously come down to money and where he fancies progressing most. I wouldn't write us off just yet.

I know as said above he didn't do anything against us, but I think the stats on another post showed he had been one of the better midfielders in the league this season. I'll see if I can find it.

Think it was AmericanTangerine that posted it.

This was taken from a post in early January, made by @AmericanTangerine so the stats might have changed since:

"Think it's very easy to look at their position and scoff at the potential of signing him, but the stats suggest he has been one of the best players in League 1 this season.

His performance so far by the numbers compared to other League 1 midfielders (per FotMob):

-91st percentile in chances created.
-96th percentile in successful crosses.
-97th percentile in successful dribbles.
-100th percentile in tackles won.
-100th percentile in duels won.
-98th percentile in aerial duels won.
-81st percentile in interceptions.
-92nd percentile in shot accuracy.

I will be fair and include the less desirable stats too..

-1st percentile in dispossessions.
-1st percentile in dribbled past.
-27th percentile in pass accuracy.
-53rd percentile in long ball accuracy.

WhoseScored Average Match Rating= 7.03 (35 out of 359 League 1 players, 97th percentile)
-The only players we have who are rated higher are Jordan Rhodes at 7.28, James Husband at 7.08 (Karamoko Dembele is at 6.95).

FotMob Average Match Rating= 7.36 (18 out of 359 League 1 players, 98th percentile)
-We do not have any players rated higher than that and the closest ones are James Husband at 7.32, Jordan Rhodes at 7.28, and Karamoko Dembele at 7.24."

He’s a local lad Carlisle born but players are like any other person who is after job security when it comes to money and prospects.
Portsmouth are a much bigger club than us and the prospects look very good for them to be playing championship football next season.
Now I’m not saying he’s chosen them over us we might not have been in for him this time around but if he did go there over us then you can understand it.

After signing Callum Lang this week too, this is definitely further intent being shown by Portsmouth, fair play to them...

Carlisle fans genuinely think he’s been poor this season. Moxon will sign for whoever offers him the most money, it’s probably going to be highest paid contract he gets in football so you can’t blame him.

Proven? Yep, proven unable to make the step up to Lg1 this season.

We dodged a bullet by not signing him last summer

According to reports they've paid £150k upfront that could rise to £250k with add ons. I'd hardly call that substantial when we offered more than that in the summer.

We’ve replaced Dougall with the kid from Soton and looks like Byers too.
That’ll give us 6 x central midfielders for 2 spots.

But Marv isn’t on Critchley’s photo list so only get’s the odd game now and then.
4 starts and one sub appearance in January so not sure what you mean. Rested Tuesday and likely to start on Saturday. Are you following what's going on ....?

You need to go back to the end of last year.

Yes he got injured then Critchley said he was back on the grass but we didn’t see him for a good few weeks.

We played several games without a recognised central defender which was just madness.

I don't need to back to anything. We are talking about now and the future. Unless moaning is the number one priority obviously.

Moaning? 🤷‍♂️

I said we needed another big 6ft 4in central defender and you came in with guns blazing for some reason. 🤷‍♂️

Guns blazing? Just pointed out we have one. Then you told me he doesn't play, for some reason.
I know but we need another one is what I’m saying.

If we’re going to argue about players not playing I could have mentioned Gabriel, Lyons, Dale, Oakley-Boothe etc.

Ok. But we only use one CB in the middle of a 3. Casey has done well there too. But we may still sign someone.

Gabriel is been brought back gradually after a bad injury. Playing quite a lot now. Dale has gone. Oak B gone. Lyons hasn't played enough for me, but now has Gabriel, CJ and Coulson keeping him out.

Fair enough.

I’m a firm believer of a couple of good old fashioned big centre backs always have been.

Most clubs we play all seem to have them and we often lack in height at set pieces but we’re got 6 midfielders 7 if we’ve got Byers.

I would prefer us to play with two CBs and two attacking full backs, the way Liverpool do. But we don't. The man in the middle has been too isolated for me all season. The other two CBs need to to be closer to him. But they've been pulled wide by us having CJ and Dale as wing backs, needing a lot of defensive support. I don't we will go up unless we address this. Gabriel and Coulson might enable this, if they can defend better than CJ and Dale. We know Gabriel can.

Odds of Dale leaving, no incomings and the same old “we couldn’t get the deals done” narrative on Friday morning?
Give it a rest, the Oystons have been ousted and Sadler is spending a fair bit not only on the squad but keeping us in business. Move on ffs.

Move on from what? What has this got anything to do with the Oystons? Turned out to be a good deadline day, but we still bid horrendously under asking for a decent player, it’s just typical form on deadline day for us.

Top proven player? One good season in League 2 and anonymous in League One.

Let's not make him into something kind of midfield maestro.

Similarly Dale is now a world beating Roberto Carlos now he's left.

Who was that and what did we bid?
