Oxford United v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 21.10.23

Really hope I'm wrong but Saturday has an inevitable defeat written all over it. Maybe I am preparing for the worst and that outcome. I just don't think we have enough quality to make such a statement to the league. I feel sick writing that beating the mighty Oxford would be a statement. Really should be the other way round.
You say this every game 🥱🥱

I know the ref! Just reminded him that he is big time now reffing the former FA Cup winners and European champions in the Anglo Italian cup!

From the Oxford forum...

"Mcguane IS in one of the training videos from today, including most of the squad, Josh Mceachran also there. Looks like the missing man is Brannagan."
If that proves to be the case, we'll hopefully be spared any Oxford rendition of : "Bring out the Brannagan!"

Interesting to see Oakley-Boothe starting.

Not seen enough of him to form an opinion really.

Let's hope he impresses today.

Game over. Norburn is critical for us. Oakley Boothe won't be ready for this level of match.
It's a fair point that.

It's a huge game for him to be starting in.

He's played a handful of minutes throughout the season right?

It sounds like he did well against Liverpool U23's which will have helped with his fitness but this is a different level.

Let's hope he steps up.

It’s a bold choice to start OB, for sure - certainly in this particular game.

Unlike quite a few on here, however, I’m more than happy to acknowledge that Mr Critchley knows considerably more about the players than I do. He’ll obviously have evaluated whether he’s up for the challenge, so let’s get behind the lad, wish him all the best & hope he does the business.

What a crap ground. I remember going to the Manor Ground in the 1960s. Oxford don't seem to like spending money on facilities
