Oxford United v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 18.04.21

Evening all, Oxford fan in piece, Your gaffer had a plan and it worked a treat, You bossed us, bullied us and outplayed us from top to bottom, credit where credit is due, BUT, don’t underestimate us, Karl (for all the Mickey taking) takes massive pride in his work and rest assured he will be doing everything he can to turn this around) - Things could have be so different early doors if your defender had if got sent off for bringing down Sykes when he was clean through but that’s football, you gained momentum and the rest is history. Our right back Hanson had a stinker together with our left back, plus James Henry and Barker amongst others.

Hopefully we’ll come to your dated seaside town 😎 and produce a miracle, who knows, but in all seriousness, all the best of luck, if you beat us Friday then I believe Your’ll be in the championship next year.
All The Best
Most Blackpool fans won't be taking it for granted, especially those who were around in 1996. Check out the league one play off results in that year and you'll understand why....

Husband could have been sent off, and maybe would have been had it not been so early, but I think it would've been harsh, given we had Turton there too and that he was clearly trying to get the ball and it was one of those marginal fouls. I thought you should've had a penalty though at 2-0, I would've wanted one in a reverse situation. That would've changed things enormously.

It's not over yet for sure. Strange things happen. You got 6 at Crewe not long ago. But we haven't conceded in our last 5 games, it would be a catastrophe if we lost this from here. The final is a whole new game with its own pressures and one off set of circumstances, anything can happen. Last year didn't go according to expectations. 😉

I don't get this 'Husband only stayed on because it was in the first few minutes'.
Wasn't he sent off in the FIRST minute early in the season?
Maybe he should be on the bench and brought on after about 10 mins? 😉

True, but refs behave differently, and occasions differ, and tackles differ. Some are marginal, some are indisputable.

Apparently Oxford only sold 3200 of the 4000 tickets available!?!!! I find that a bit strange

I think it was a yellow seen them given as a red but not clear cut as your manager was ranting about. Your man that slid in two footed could of gone too but didn’t even get a card. Your a good team and we certainly won’t be taking the 2nd leg lightly.

I'd watch the highlights back again, because he wasn't clean through. There was a covering defender. Therefore, a yellow is correct. He did also get the ball. But that's whatever. The mere mention of a red card shows bias and a lack of understanding of the rules.
