Dave?

Should we sack everyone who worked at the club before 2019?

Left my jacket in the ground on Saturday with my phone in the pocket. Two separate stewards stopped me going back in for it even though a few fans were still dribbling out and told me I would have to come back tomorrow.Went to the main entrance and Dave got on his radio and 5 minutes later another steward walked in with my jacket 👍 .

Not Dave's fault he was working for the Stains, let the lad get on with his job. There is a member of the ground staff left from the Oyston days as well, should we get rid of him?.

The night the receivers confirmed they were in control of club accounts and not the Oyst*ns we went to the hotel bar for a celebration. It was great being back in Bloomfield Road, on the balcony looking over the pitch a lot of grown men and women were emotional that night and it was a really good atmosphere in there.

Anyway, I digress.....
At kicking out time we had a long wait for a taxi and sat in reception chatting to Dave, he came across as a really nice bloke. I won't go into detail but he had been totally fed up, didn't understand some of the abuse he'd got at protests as he was just doing his job etc and was far from sad that it was all over and the club was in new hands.

Found him much the same, couldn’t sleep the night before home coming tickets on sale so sat on my camping chair outside the club shop from 0400 and he wandered up from the hotel to see I was ok and if I wanted a brew. Having that family as a previous boss doesn’t mean he isn’t a good man?! Look forwards, move on and in Sadler we trust 👍

Yes, bit silly to be honest, I thought that rule went out in the 90s😃 but having said that if someone has a medical reason surely discretion should be used. Anyway just my opinion 👍🏻

Always check the letter that comes with the ticket, you of all people should know that

Always check the letter that comes with the tickets, especially Page 2. You of all people should remember that 🤣🤣🤣

Sounds like he's a decent bloke.

Just like everyone else on this board, cant answer simple questions. What are you scared of.
Hardly, just didn’t see the relevance to the question. Scared ? Of what ? And yes I wouldn’t mind Matt W back in some capacity if the club had a suitable position available. He’s got a good track record, his contacts are excellent and is thought of highly in most footballing circles.

You say a doorman is part of the toxic past, yet you want a highly toxic person who worked alongside Karl and Owen. Knew most fans on here and a few got in trouble and you dont see a relevance. You must be still be in that love in,what was on the old board.
Oh how I knew this was coming ! And you’re that stupid to think that I’m that naive ? If you knew the person who was turned away you’d engage your brain and keep your mouth shut !
.. Try setting up someone who doesn’t expect it next time you muppet ….

Daves a great bloke, I’ve ended up having a lot of dealings with him over the years & he’s a really nice man, I call him Dave like he’s a mate, he isn’t & probably doesn’t even recognise me but from letting my kids into the reception area to get autographs in the premiership year to brewing up for us whilst waiting for a cab in reception ( long boring story) I don’t care if he worked for the oystons or not, it was just a job
Let’s face it a lot of us work for massive twats but it’s a job at the end of the day
Personally I work for a massive **- does that make me a bad person?
Having said that I’m self employed

I was queueing outside the ticket office for a season ticket, and he was on the ticket office door, allowing a few in at a time, because of covid restrictions.
Anyway, I heard `Dave' chatting to a fan at the front of the queue, and was pleasantly surprised how knowledgeable he was about BFC players, past and present.
I'm guessing he's a fan?

I've found out who was turned away and he's a big fan and sponsor of the club and a great family who's business is a long standing one in the town, I think in defence of Dave he's just doing his job, he's told "no trainers" and if someone who's employed him see's people in the corporate wearing trainers straight away he'll be thinking WTF am i paying Dave for. The point of discretion is a training need, Dave needs to be told to have that discretion if someone clearly has a medical issue and therefore cannot wear shoes, he also needs to be told that nowadays its not all leather brogues and loafers but there is a sort of hybrid trainer shoe which are very smart, I know this because he pulled me for wearing some, fortunately he understood they were not trainers like Adidas or Nike ones and I was allowed access. A quick apology to the aggrieved supporter from the club and Dave informed about discretion for future issues and all should end well.

Would it not have been sensible to contact the club first to check? Otherwise anyone can turn up wearing trainers saying they have a medical issue.

To be fair though Dress codes are a bit archaic anyway, especially in a football ground

I believe the club did as suggested and credit where credit is due 👍
