Appleton deserves sacking for this alone. Sending out two lads, aged 18 and 21, both no 10s and with a combined 50 games professional football to go and play as a double pivot. They are both incredibly talented but they are the most lightweight pairing I have ever seen together and they are crying out for a bit of nous and in game management alongside them, which Appleton doesn't give. How did he get his reputation for being trusted with elite youth? Did he used to do something that he doesn't now?

It’s absolutely baffling. 2 young inexperienced ACM’s playing at CDM whilst a CDM plays at RB and a LW plays as an ACM, all whilst a RB and 2 CDM’s sit on the bench ?

I can see what he was trying to do in hoping to take the game a bit more to them, get ahead and then readjust. He underestimated Watford and overestimated us.

Worked in U21/U23 football for years before us so will have built up a network. If he gets trusted with youth loans it's because he'll play them and promote the idea of development. Our problems aren't their parent club problems as long as from their POV they're learning by playing.

You'll hear Morgan Rogers tell you that he's decent because he's the only manager who's allowed him to play senior football so far. But you probably won't hear Gary Madine saying he's the best manager he's worked under as he's had a career.

All clubs have loan players, it's not just exclusive to us. But if we get relegated then his contacts book should come in useful for league one as it's a better level for those first loans out. A cheaper way to fulfil a fixture list without as many of the fixed overheads.

I think this current midfield situation is MA, if he's free to pick from who he has available, also telling his bosses that he needs better players in this month who he deems capable of coming in and giving this current pair a breather or to help them.
