Paul Hurst

Graham Alexander and Critch are still favourites and Paul Hurst would have difficulty running the Shard inn and managing Blackpool fc

Ehhhh not amazing at first glance but...

I get it though, almost got Shrewsbury promoted from League 1 back in 2018 on a tight budget and was always going to fail at Ipswich (who were a poisoned chalice at the time), got Grimsby promoted twice from the National League and has them about to finish the highest they've been in league football in years.

Constantly done more with less and probably deserves a chance higher up.

Just don't think that chance should be with us, we could do better IMO.

Tbf though Phil is right, they are long ball merchants. There was a thread about would you renew under Critch, maybe it should be would you renew under yet another long ball manager. If this is true, I'd love to know what our boards fascination is with lump it managers who play sh1t football. For fcuks sake learn a lesson and get a manager who wants to play football

It's a lovely place is Port Vale, a definite upgrade on Grimsby , I hope he gets the job he deserves.
We have a better prospect under our nose in Dobbie .

All these names being mentioned.
But are they actually in the minds of the Board, or are they just some ones' random thoughts?
I'll believe it when the 'short list' is announced.

There won’t be a shortlist announced - there will inevitably be rumours and those who claim to be ‘in the know’ but ultimately we will only find out when the club announce it

Unless Dobbie performs a miracle and we manage to stop in the championship and he becomes the new manager. It is going to create a real

problem with deciding which players to release and which players to recruit in the close season without a manager in place. If I leave emotion

out of the decision-making process, there is only Critchley that has the experience to get us out of league one and in-depth knowledge of the

current players. If we do appoint someone new to the club as manager then they are going spend the summer like Appleton getting to

know the squad then they are going to strengthen in the areas where they feel are weak.

When people on here refer to ‘the board’ they do realise it’s 2 people, it doesn’t conjure up a big debate on who should be our next manager. Just 2 people at the moment ! Hardly inspiring is it.
