Paul Ince to Reading

Short thought, why?

Longer thought for Reading fans, you may well win some games, but forget any of them being 3-2 anywhere else.

Have Paul and Tom worked out away to blackmail clubs into giving Paul a job?!

What are Reading thinking? "So you've had 8 years off to recharge your batteries? Excellent!"

Reading forum...

"Love that they've hidden it in the final paragraph of the pauno announcement.
A genuine WTF moment

"It’s high risk. We need an old hand in. At least the atmosphere won’t be toxic on Tuesday.

(No, it'll be Wednesday! 🤣)

Do we have any issues with ince snr or jnr really ?

He kept his son with us into a third season when other clubs wanted him

As a manager he wasn’t great but he wasn’t the worst and was hampered by kokos nonsense

He didn’t take any crap from koko

Was he that bad Paul Ince ?

Not too sure
I would suggest that he kept his son with us in the hope he could engineer him a move to an overseas club for which the club would have got buttons in compensation compared with a move to a club in the UK.

The football we played was shite, in 13-14 we still had some players of Championship quality. We started well, albeit getting the rub of the green but as with most of the clubs he managed he had no idea of how to stop a losing run.

He ran into issues with the FA about his conduct with officials at a away game at Bournemouth.

I went to that game and was baffled about how that came about, I often criticise refs but couldn’t see what could have prompted it in terms of events on the pitch.

Obviously he was a better manager than Barry Ferguson or Jose Riga or Lee Clark or MugDonald but i wouldn’t want to be measured on those terms.

The Reading board has some interesting views on his appointment.

From memory, it was a bad miss from Delfouneso that triggered him. He volleyed a water bottle which accidentally hit a nearby steward, which led to an altercation and intervention from the officials.

So the Fonz ultimately led to his demise.

Just why oh why Reading would you do this to your fans, nothing against you as a club and hope it works out🤔 but with other people available (by this I mean more or less anyone 🤣) what made you pick Paul Ince, if/ when it doesn’t work out hope you (the board) put your hands up to the fans and take responsibility for a strange appointment 😪

There is a thread on the Reading website suggesting why the appointment has been made.

Obviously I have no way of knowing whether the comments made are accurate or not….

Are we sure given Reading's penchant for signing big name big salary older players he won't be in the starting eleven?
