PAUL SIMPSON

Big task on his hands. Carlisle are sleepwalking their way into the Conference.
Its a risky move for him , as he‘s a cult hero, and looked upon as their only hope of survival.
If they go down this time I doubt they’ll bounce back for some considerable time.

Reminding me of the time Shearer tried stepping in to attempt to save his beloved Newcastle from their relegation fight.

Really not convinced Gaz.
Geographically they find it hard to entice players to the Far North, and don’t really have any financial clout to do so even if they wanted.
They don’t even exploit the likes of yourselves, Sunderland or Newcastle when it comes to raiding out of favour/up coming players.

As brilliant a coach as Simmo is, he cannot polish turds.

Eve had a lateral approach to this similar issue when at Barrow. He got the club to agree that training was based in the Manchester area during the week with the team then travelling to Barrow on the Friday and having a ‘open session’ to preserve the community links. That way, they attracted players that normally would have given Barrow a swerve.

Well I hope them up tough task

Genuinely hadn't looked at the League One bottom four for ages and looks like Simmo is taking them down. Didn't they get a massive investment around the time they played us?

I think they have put some investment into the wider club infrastructure… but gave him little in the transfer window
