Not seen his name mentioned but he was pretty poor yesterday. Long aimless ball after long aimless ball giving possession away when he didn't need to.

Doesn't look fit to me or are we just witnessing a League One defender playing. I've expected more from him to be honest. At least 1 goal from a corner.

Don't agree.
I was pleased to see him trying those long cross field balls which obviously are difficult. His stats were 4/11.
He had a pass success rate of 41/50 (82%), better than Casey 31/40 but not quite as good as Hubby (who is?) 46/55.
His defensive stats were pretty decent as well but I'll leave it to you to look them up.

When he was at Shrewsbury, he was a great threat at set pieces … not seen him win a header yet (In Opposition box). Is it the delivery is poor here … I sense so !! ??

A question, what about the long aimless balls that the majority didn't connect with the player pleased you? The thing that annoyed me, was the majority weren't close to connecting with a man and I'd love to see the 4 back that did. As I would suggest they lead to absolutely nothing attacking wise.

I'll be honest Insider, I literally can't see what pass success rates matter for our defenders? We play a nasty brand of pointless possession football at times and they see the ball too much. But it doesn't take away that anything longer than a 5 yard ball, Pennington lost the majority of them.

He was still part of a defence that conceded 2 and couldn't contain Aneke when he came on. His positioning was pretty all over the place for their break away first goal. He neither came or defended May. Absolutely in no mans land. Either commit to the man with the ball or ensure he can't place an easy pass. He did neither.

If anyone has been underwhelming so far its Norburn. Critchley has, reportedly, been chasing him for a couple of years, he came with a big reputation and there was great excitement among a lot of fans when he signed. He has been ok, that’s all, he has hardly set the world on fire and sometimes he is completely anonymous. No, I am afraid I am not really impressed so far.

Some posters have the worst parameters for what makes a signing a success.

Keogh didn't score from a corner. Was he underwhelming too?
He came with a reputation of contributing the odd goal from a corner too. Why are we not allowed to mention that?

I wouldn't disagree with your comments. I've stated previously our signings under SS have been in the main a series of similar average players. We simply can't attract the the calibre of players we need to be a consistent Championship team. We appear to go after players like Brannigan and Moxon but we never lamd them. Don't get me wrong if SS can't afford to pay higher wages to attract better players then fair enough. I don't want him to bankrupt Blackpool FC. We just need to accept we are only able to sign players other teams don't want. Even if we unearth a decent one (Yates/Bowler/Anderson) they don't stay with us very long.

That's because we got relegated and they think they are better than L 1
We got Bowler coz we got promoted
Yates was a misfit at Ro
Anderson the best signing of the 3 until his injury at Hartlepools and then a series of breakdowns followed.

I thought Pennington did ok defensively (apart fromthe 1st goal) but like Marv he's no Beckenbaur with distribution but its far more complicated than that (ie forwards need to move around etc) but the wide ball was our best outlook but at times too many midfielders and forwards hide hence we never really look dynamic when we've faffed about with it for a while and even the players with the ball want to do something different !

Show's how fans opinions differ. I think Pennington has looked very assured this season and did ok Saturday.
Everyone struggled with Anke when he came on including Husband who has been immense.
One thing I do agree with though is those long diagonals were mind-numbing, he hit 5/6 in a row which were absolutely pointless considering Kouassi wasn't on. However do you think that has come from the manager or has he decided personally to do that? My thought's were Critch has told him to keep hitting it.

No-one said you can't mention it. It's a ridiculous way to measure a centre back though.

Even more so when he's only made 6 appearances.
No, I'm not measuring him. I'm merely pointing out that his all round game play so far I've not been massively impressed with. Is that not allowed to mention other aspects either?

I'd have expected to see him more threatening at corners and he hasn't been.

I know you and BFC x 3 are tinted Tangerine and no other fucker is allowed to say anything but I'd have a day off.

Better than having shit tinted spectacles, I suppose.

Arsenal's back 4 had a pass success rate of 87%, 99%, 91% & 92% respectively. If only!
How long have we been complaining (you probably more than anyone) about our defenders poor distribution.
I don't deny that Pennington played several poor long balls but when you are told to play that ball it's inevitable that the the success rate will be low.
As for Charlton's 1st goal, which was down our left hand side, Pennington was desperately trying to cover for Casey's mistake whilst at same time trying to keep some semblance of a position to cover the cross and moved over to the left when Norburn came back to help. It was of course all too late but I wouldn't say Pennington was the main culprit.
So not sure of your interpretation of that one.

My interpretation was that he didn't actually do anything, never said he was the main culprit. Just showing an example that I'd suggest Marv would have been across to the winger breaking away a lot quicker. And felt the decision to stay in no mans land was a poor one.

If you watch it back you can see how Pennington was trying to cover/organise cover for both positions.
For the record however I would have brought Eky on earlier and played a back 4 of Pennington, Casey, Eky and Hubby for the last 20 mins.

I think we look a better team when he's in the side.
