Pensions

Oh to be a boomer. Cheap housing, worklife balance to die for and those who were on the local govt gravy train walking out at the very latest 60 (there were huge numbers paid off at 55) with gold plated pensions. They still moan though.
Not sure I'd call it a gravy train, but see you have put everyone in to the same boat.

Not every local government job is a Mon to Fri 0900-1700hrs role.

I worked every other weekend for 20yrs. Worked 22 out of 32 Christmas Days and was on call for 4 others.
Missed countless birthdays, anniversaries and was detailed my leave for the first 10yrs - "your summer leave is 01 to 15June"... remember me saying but the kids aren't off school then- we employ you not your kids.

Think I, and a considerable ammount of others have earned my "gold plated pension"
