Peter Green RIP

RIP Peter, brilliant guitarist and made some great music with the original Fleetwood Mac.

Great guitarist and song writer, had a troubled life but he was up there with the best. RIP Peter.

Another icon, for those of a certain age, passes.
Even the "immortals" are mortal.
RIP Mr Greenbaum.

🎸 Man of the World and Need Your Love So Bad - two of my all time favourites.
Rest in peace.
Couldn't agree more.
So influential.
I once got into trouble (probably rightly so) when, as a band member, introduced a cover of Need Your Love So Bad as " Fleetwood Mac before women got involved"
RIP Peter x

I’d never heard of him and my friend (of my dad) convinced me and took me to see his comeback after regaling the story of his retraction from society.
I really enjoyed the gig and some guitarist for sure. Talented man.

Albatross was such an original sound that the Beatles copied it on Abbey Road.

Well said 66 - I think it was called Sun King wasn't it?
I liked George Harrison's commentary: "It never really sounded like Fleetwood Mac... but that was the point of origin"

I can forgive him though, I liked both the Beatles and Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac (or just Fleetwood Mac because Peter Green disliked the band being referred to as being his)

RIP

Yes Dave it was Sun King but I think that whole, deep, mellow Albatross sound pervaded the whole album.

Died aged 73. Loved his Fleetwood Mac years and saw him live at Preston a few years ago.
Yes, a troubled, tortured genius. I could tell you about my life... Albatross. My late brother went to see him about 10 or 15 years ago at a venue on Talbot Road, near North Station, can't remember its name, and he5m he said PG was well out of it but his band was top notch. RIP

Saw him at the Grand and as you can imagine the audience were mainly men of a certain age. (me included).
They ran out of bitter and the Urinals were crowded with bladdery old boys taking ages.
The gig itself was brilliant with acoustic blues in the first half and then full on electric rock in the second half.
Absolute hero

I still listen to 2 of his solo albums from the late 70’s, In the skies and Whatcha gonna do, both amazing albums. Another guitar great in heaven.

Nearly saw him about 10 years ago but it was cancelled due to ill health & I must admit I thought he was dead. I first heard him on buying the re released Albatross & sticking the B side on WOW what feel he had, (Need your love so bad) I've heard many good guitarists attempt it but just not get it quite right & I've heard it murdered many times too. RIP.
