Pilley gets 13 years

Goes to show there are no scruples in football. I find it unbelievable (maybe I shouldn't) that the EFL appear to be just standing by and allowing Fleetwood to continue on a "business as usual" basis. You would have thought they would be investigating very closely who owns the club and how it is being funded? The owner of the club has been found guilty of being a major fraudster and Fleetwood have just changed the names on the doors.
Who does own it now?

A lot of moralising on here from posters who were happy to line the pockets of a rapist. Stones and glass houses spring to mind.
BFC are not a club funded by the proceeds of crime so not sure what the point is here fishface

13yrs for Pilley and 9yrs for the guy who was involved with the murder of the beautician outsicd a pub on Xmas Eve.

Why what's done is done and a sense of proportion is required. Yes punishment but this?
Sorry, but fuck him! he's watched his victims suffer whilst he rubbed his hands of his ill gotten gains! I’ve no time for people who fuck others over whilst making millions. Run things properly and play by the rules - if you don’t you should face the consequences head on.

Wonder if we can get a daily bump of this thread with the question ‘What’s for breakfast Andy’

Porridge 😁

Feel sorry for the guy if I’m honest. At the end of the day he’s been a Pool fan for decades and even when at the Cods went to most of our big games. It’s only financial crime, you could beat someone to within an inch of their life and get a suspended sentence and he gets 13 years. Whatever your opinion of him the Fylde Coast has lost a major investor and people kicking him when he’s down need to remember that.
A major taker not investor, where they at now best part of £15 million ? Would of thought proceeds of crime unit will come knocking next. Not good outlook for Fleetwood.

Not really commented on this as I didn't know the extent of Pilley's crimes. But the Judge's summing up (on the previous page) is absolutely damning. He will reap what he has sown and sadly a lot of good people in Fleetwood will suffer. Disgusting.

However much personal relationship some may have with Mr. Pilley, the Judge's summing up is damning. He got caught out, but sadly there are a large number of fraudsters who seem to get away with it.

Anyone been following how/if this has affected the Cods so far?
It’s not going to be instantaneous as court procedures move slowly. But like Mr Pilley not wanting to sit in the dock, perhaps statements that everything is carrying on normally and there’s no change, might not be the best longterm strategy with this judge.

Which prison will Pilley be a guest at first?

He'll probably end up at Kirkham open prison after four or five years.

Grinning criminals boast jail is 'Butlins behind bars'

Cat D "open" prisons are allocated prisoners based on numerous risk factors, primarily risk to the public.
Trouble is the prison population is so high spaces at local prisons - serving the courts, are at a premium and that demand trickles down through the categories which mean ultimately prisoners who pose low risk to the public but wouldn't necessarily have made Cat D in previous uncrowded years end up in open conditions.

Thats an old picture BTW, which was posted on one of those prisoners social media sites. If I recall correctly 6/8 were recategorised and returned to closed conditions.

Potential flight risk was why he remained on remand during the trial. As such, I can't see him being put in an open prison.

He won't at this stage of sentence. 2yrs left to serve, with a possible 27mths left max but that would need to be signed off by Governing Governor of sending prison, and accepted by receiving Governor.

As well as the authorities pursuing him under the Proceeds of Crime Act, presumably his victims can also seek financial compensation from BES and other companies that swindled them?
