Can we all please now agree it’s just a pipe dream?

Down to 9th back to 6 points gap and we could be down to 10th come Saturday.

We might well have one of the best home records in the league but we’re fcuking useless away from home (yes I know we beat Pompey freak results do happen)

I’ve always said the buck stops at the manager but honestly we’ve got players out there tonight who aren’t even league 2 standard they are just embarrassing to watch just didn’t look interested.

How can any team not have a single effort on goal in 97 minutes of football?

18 months more (minimum) of watching Critchley? Er no thanks.

Leyton Orient were celebrating like they were going up.

The 18 months is poop. Almost the vote of confidence. Anything else and I'd think Biden and Trump were in charge.

Did Virtue actually find more than one pass?

I know you wanted me Saturday @Jaffa_The_Hut, here I am mate. 😉 You see Stevenage continue to scab their way into the playoffs too? 😵

Yer we did miss you any particular reason you were absent?

Stevenage are a much more organised team than we’ll ever be.

Then again they don’t have Critchley so it’s not difficult.

I’d given up hope of top six after Northampton at home you could see back then we didn’t have the minerals. I couldn’t bring myself to watch the game against Bolton I went to a museum instead. Tonight I saw a glimmer of hope I thought we battled hard first half and actually played some good football at times albeit with players of limited capability Connolly/Hamilton. We didn’t set off in the second half with the same endeavour as them and paid the price. Fair play to Orient they came to our place and got a point and just outdid us tonight they are a little more advanced as a team than we are and I genuinely hope they sneak that last place I think they’d have a real chance.

Derby & Bolton both lost doing us a favour - but we ballsed it up again. It's so frustrating.
As Rocky said when he was looking down and out; "it aint over til it's over", and we go again on Saturday.
I doubt we were ever going to catch either Bolton or Derby in all reality, but the teams around us (Orient, Stevenage, Lincoln) all won. If we beat Shrewsbury and Pompey we’re back in with a glimmer of hope, though I can’t see anything other than a draw and a loss.

Fair comments. We were miles better than we were against Cheltenhsm or even Peterborough last week, but second half we lacked someone to drive us on and compete.

Apt user name but I’m afraid that as far as I’m concerned the fat lady has sung, packed up her microphone gone home, made a lasagna ready meal & retired

Haha yep - just busy mate, did reply! I do love how polarising a few days can be eh. It's just as bad on our forums though mate... 🤦‍♂️

I'm afraid I can't agree jaffa. For me nothing much has changed from a few weeks ago when we needed about 2 points per game and that is still more than likely the case.

We only have 1 more more night match left which is also a relief! My biggest worry is a mounting injury list.

Our away form needs to improve to state the bleedin obvious but it can happen; wins at Portsmouth and Peterborough would endorse that. We're up against it no doubt but win on Saturday and folk will be loving life again 👍

Fair enough I know where your coming from but games are fast running out we just don’t seem capable of closing this 6 point gap yet teams above us particular Oxford have hit a brick wall yet we’re still behind them.

Stevenage keep scrapping wins usually 1 nils it might not be pretty but at least they are winning games and of course Orient are now above us.

We’ve now got Lincoln breathing down are necks just 2 points behind where we’re they a month ago?

Yes I know it’s still more than possible but at the end of the day I honestly don’t think we’re anywhere near good enough for the play-offs for some strange reason we are just dross when playing away from home and that I’m afraid isn’t going to get us promoted despite what we do at home.

Of course it’s Critchley’s fault the way he picks the team and sets the team up but sometimes you have to be man enough and say half that team from last night just aren’t good enough for league one.

Worrying times ahead methinks and I’ll be flabbergasted if we finish even close to 6th spot.

There does seem to be a lack of plan B when games aren't going our way.

I live in hope! Whatever happens I'll have a good day out Saturday.

Neyo, as Oxford are wobbling, why is your new manager not playing Jordan T? Was he not playing well or does his face just not fit / he doesn't fit your formation?
At his age, he obviously needs regular game time, and I've heard that he's asked to go out on loan, but that request has been refused.
It's a sad situation as he sold his house & relocated his family to Oxford - but that's the unpredictable life of a footballer!

It’s mathematically possible but when you see how we played last night it’s going to need a minor miracle.

Critchley has to play 2 centre backs and 2 full backs.

Pack the midfield and compete.

Simple.

Bob as long as Critch is at the club trust me we are going know where we were very lucky to get to the Championship last time as you well know via the lottery play offs he has proved since he has been in managment with us as well as QPR and Villa that he is out of his depth and inept as a first team manager.he need help and quickly as long as he stays at the club the club is on a downward spiral.and moving forward we will find our selves in a world of trouble his recruiting is not great he to stubborn to change systems and is basically clueless unfortunately he seems to have a relationship with Sadler where he is going know where for at least the next 18 months which only spells bad news for the club.if he stays which looks like the inevitable he needs to get rid of dum and dummer and replace them with a experienced right hand man like Thomo I rest my case

But you probably wouldn't have said that after Peterborough away and Bolton. All very jekyll and hyde atm.

Ditto Kev. 👍

I would, we could have been 3-1 down at half time quite easily. Bolton are unquestionably a better side than us.

I think it’s the home support that gets the best out of the players, it drives them on.

The way we set up doesn’t (but only my opinion)

I don't think we are getting play offs this season. We may well beat Portsmouth and Shrewsbury but I don't see this team being consistent enough to overturn both the points and to be more consistent than teams around us.
Yep Critchley is to blame for some of it but so are the players and also so is the recruitment. We simply don't have good enough players across the pitch. I'd say we need about 6 players in especially if we carry on with this formation as 3 of them will be cbs

Still only one away win against teams outside the playoffs, and in those games we've scored no goals in 7 of the 12. No team is ever going to get into the top six with that record.
We have 11 games left, and five are against teams outside the playoffs away from home. I don't expect we'll win any of them because firstly we're showing no signs of improvement in those games, and secondly we're demonstrating that we aren't going to change the way we play. We're going to keep playing the same players, the same style and the same formation in those games. So expect more of the same. We'll finish around 10th I think.

Yeah it's a weird one mate. Our defence has been generally not bad but prone to silly moments of error which is costing us big time. Jordan was injured for a while late last year and just hasn't really got his place back. To be honest though, he's just not performed at the level of he did when we had him on loan for some reason - but given the sitch, I wouldn't be adverse to trying him out, we're so bloody leaky and Moore (captain, very good defender) has been out too, so yunno... Opportunities...

Ermmm no

On paper, you'd say 6 points from 9 against sides that were 2nd, 5th and 6th is a good return. Unfortunately, the rot that has been our away form is set in and I can't see it suddenly being turned around. The damage has been done losing to bottom 6 sides previously, and not getting beaten by Stevenage. The manager's mentality of giving away opposition too much respect, playing to not get beat and being very predictable all means that nothing will change. It's a real shame as our home form has been as good as I can remember.

Oh have a day off. Luck that we got promoted by the play-offs? What a load of absolute nonsense. You don't get promoted by being " very lucky".

How did he keep us up then if it was all by luck? Don't let your hatred for Critch blind you from reality.

Ifs and buts. They didn't and we smashed them. Only 1 wonder strike in it at their place as well.

I went to Peterborough away and we deserved to beat them over the 90 minutes.

Take a look at the Bolton message board today. Meltdown. After a loss or 2 there is always a huge overreaction. Just footy fans innit, some glass half full, some half empty and most very fickle.

Longer than a pipe dream now the play offs.
6 points behind 5 & 6th place, who still have games in hand, with 11 games to play.
A minimum of bettering their results in a minimum of 3 games just to draw level … it’s not happening.

Backside on show in Woolworths/Burtons window I’d wager

I realise every club wants to compete at the highest level, but could we really foresee a successful campaign next season were we to be promoted this?
Rather be consistently inconsistent and safe in League One than embarrassed in the Championship.
It's obvious NC will not be going anywhere soon.

Then the club's "progress" motto should go.

If Sadler will not, or cannot fund at least Championship stability, change must come.

Either he adds a second owner to finance this goal, or sells to someone ambitious.

That's the irony. Our fans have written the Play Offs off and Orient, who are only one point ahead of us, are confident that can go all the way.
As much about the mindset of fans as players and manager.
Orient supporters observe momentum.

Blackpool fans lament inconsistency.

I remember in 2001 when we lost 1-0 at Leyton Orient around this time of year. That was it we all thought. We sneaked into 7th place last game of season and beat Orient 4-2 in final.

I will agree with O/P if we fail to win on Saturday then hopefully beat Pompey.
